Design: The upcoming Bolero stays true to its boxy heritage but gets major visual upgrades. Spy shots reveal flush door handles, a more aerodynamic body, large LED projector headlamps, and C-shaped DRLs. Expect a flatter bonnet, chunkier bumpers, and LED tail-lamps for a more assertive stance. Alloy wheels ranging between 17 to 18 inches and wider tyres point towards better on-road stability. All in all, Mahindra is clearly giving the Bolero a more premium SUV identity while preserving its core rugged appeal.

Ergonomics and Comfort: Mahindra seems to be positioning the new Bolero as a family SUV rather than just a utilitarian workhorse. Test mules hint at an independent rear suspension setup, expected to significantly enhance ride comfort. A spacious cabin, flatter floor, powered driver seat, and dual-zone climate control could make long journeys less tiring. With additions like ventilated seats and ambient lighting, the new Bolero could offer both practicality and convenience in a way previous models never did.

Powertrain: For the first time, the Bolero is expected to get both petrol and diesel engine options. Mahindra may borrow the 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engines in detuned forms. Both engines are likely to be offered with 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox options, improving drivability and city convenience. This strategic addition could help Mahindra cater to diesel-restricted markets while offering the torquey performance Bolero fans expect. The move also aligns the SUV with upcoming emission norms and urban use cases.

Hardware: The new Bolero will likely ride on Mahindra’s latest modular platform, which supports multiple body styles and powertrains. A shift to rear independent suspension marks a major leap in comfort and dynamics. While ladder-frame ruggedness may be retained, improved suspension geometry, wider track, and better damping would make the new Bolero more road-friendly without losing its rural charm. Expect better braking hardware, possibly disc brakes all around, and enhanced body rigidity for safer, more composed handling.

Features: Mahindra may pack the new Bolero with an expansive feature list to attract urban buyers. Expected features include a panoramic sunroof, 10.2-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, push-button start, digital instrument cluster, and auto-dimming IRVM. Premium elements like ambient lighting, smart key with remote functions, and ADAS features could also be on offer. These upgrades would position the Bolero as more than just a no-frills SUV - giving it lifestyle appeal in a tech-focused market.

Market Availability and Alternatives: Mahindra is expected to unveil the all-new Bolero by early-to-mid 2026. With no official confirmation yet, the SUV is likely to debut as part of Mahindra’s broader next-gen launch plans. Once launched, it will stand in a unique space, blending rural robustness with urban sophistication. It may not have direct rivals but could compete with lower-spec variants of compact SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and even its sibling, the Mahindra Scorpio Classic. The new Bolero might finally bridge the gap between functionality and family-focused modern utility.
