I'm using this car for 8 months and I'm in love with it. The pleasure of driving this German engineered beast is unmatchable with any car in this segment. If you want a driver's car with good space and German build just go for it.

Volkswagen Taigun Expert Verdict

Volkswagen Taigun Detailed Review

  • Taigun Performance

The 1.0-litre TSI three-cylinder petrol engine provided in the new Taigun produces 114hp and 178 Nm of torque. Powered by the Volkswagen's renowned TSI engine technology, Taigun is its first locally manufactured car. With so much torque, darting in and out of traffic gaps and smoothly flowing in is absolutely effortless in this car. Both automatic and manual transmission options have been offered by Taigun. Even though it comes with powerful engine options – 1.0L TSI and 1.5L TSI EVO, Taigun has a high ARAI-rated fuel efficiency of  17.44 kmpl and 18.47 kmpl, respectively.  It comes with a 4 years warranty that can be extended up to 7 years. This new SUV is a 5-seater car with a ground clearance of 188 mm. The availability of the two different engine options caters to the buyers looking for a fuel-efficient SUV as well as a performance-enriched SUV. The cylinder deactivation technology on the 1.5-Lt engine helps make it very fuel-efficient on the highway.

    Summary

VW Taigun is a capable car, with two powerful engine options. Coupled with the DSG and great dynamics, the VW Taigun ends up being the most fun-to-drive car in its segment.

  • Taigun Exterior

The new VW Taigun is bold and dynamic with a clear-cut silhouette. The infinity LED tail lamps to run from edge to edge with the most stylish and striking LED headlamps with integrated DRLs. 3D Chrome Step Grille and elevated bonnet give the bold look to the VW Taigun. The electric sunroof is an added feature with a 17 – inch dual-tone alloy wheel. LED turn indicators on the ORVM. Taigun has a sporty look because of the Chrome roof rails and short-by-ratio windows. This new Taigun SUV is available in 5 colour options - Candy White, Carbon Steel Grey, Reflex Silver, Wild Cherry Red, and Curcuma Yellow. The overall exterior design feels timeless and classic as seen on the other cars. The exteriors of the Taigun hint toward a premium luxury mid-size SUV.

    Summary

Even though the VW Taigun shares aplenty with the Kushaq, it enjoys a completely distinctive exterior aesthetics that give it a mini-Tiguan look.

  • Taigun Interior

The typical Volkswagen interior looks classy, while in the modern VW Taigun, Volkswagen has introduced a digital instrument cluster. Its digital cockpit is customized as well and the steering wheel is three-spoke. The folding rear backseat with a 60:40 split creates convenient space for passengers and luggage. Automatic climate control, USB Type-C ports, and wireless charging will also be available. This new SUVW has provided plenty of knee room and headroom with cozy seats and comfortable accommodations.

As claimed by Volkswagen, its new SUV has been developed specifically for the Indian market, so they have added a new feature of ventilated seats which are in high demand in India's hot and humid climate. The overall interior quality of the Taigun is at par with the other VW cars. The solid build quality speaks for itself inside the Taigun SUV.

The new VW Taigun has a 10.1-inch infotainment system which is no different from the Skoda Kushaq. Though the digital instrument cluster has been introduced in this SUV, the wireless phone charger, and ventilated seats remain the same with Kushaq. As SUVs have been popular lately, due to VW Taigun’s similar interior features to SUVs like Skoda Kushaq and Hyundai Creta, the new Taigun will face tough competition.

    Summary

The VW Taigun has a classy, modern look that is very pleasing yet comfortable.

  • Taigun Ride & Handling

This is where the VW Taigun excels. While it doesn’t offer the great ride quality of the Hyundai Creta, it’s still capable to keep everyone comfortable on most road surfaces. The handling package, however, takes the cake with impressive cornering skills and great high-speed stability.

Even the body roll stays well contained and you’ll love to push this car hard into the corners. Overall, the VW Taigun impresses with its ride and handling package. In fact, even the brakes are great and offer a very strong bite. Volkswagen has been widely known for making one of the safest handling cars & the Taigun is no exception either. The overall ride and handling of the Taigun is its forte in the segment as well.

    Summary

Thanks to a great handling package, the VW Taigun ends up being the most fun to drive car in the category.

  • Taigun Safety Features

Volkswagen has been known for its rock-solid cars and they maintained this even in their new VW Taigun SUV. The new Taigun is equipped with more than 40 safety features, including (but not limited to) -

40+ safety features – Tyre pressure deflation warning, 3 head restraints at the rear, child seat mount, 3-point seatbelts for the third passenger, and many more.

Electronic Stability Control (ECS) keeps the passengers safe in any unavoidable circumstances. 6 airbags save the occupants from any accidents. The frontal airbags for the driver and passenger protect the head. Side airbags protect the torso from collision Knee airbags work to protect the knees from accidents.  While driving Taigun on hills or up or down the steep slopes, hill hold control comes in handy while the rearview camera helps you park easily. The long list of safety features ensures the occupant safety inside the Taigun SUV. Additionally, the typical strong build of the chassis is quite visible on the Taigun.

    Summary

The safety features of this new SUV are more or less the same as those on the Kia Seltos or Skoda Kushaq. However, overall, the Taigun is a safe car that should protect all the occupants well in an event of an accident.
