Kia Carens Clavis, the facelift of amazing Carens with a new moniker, is set to launch on May 23, and its deliveries are expected to start in early June. We at 91Wheels got to experience multiple variants of its recently, and we left mesmerized with its looks and the high-quality interior. At the core, it's the same as before, but the new set of features elevates the cabin experience. That said, from the recent drive, we took some jaw-dropping shots of it, and hence this first-look review. Kia Carens Clavis - Exterior

The one you've been seeing here is the top spec Kia Carens Clavis - HTX+ - 1.5L Turbo Petrol with 7-DCT, and this colour option is - Pewter Olive. The front appears neat and extremely stylish, thanks to the all new - Kia digital tiger face with diamond finish decor. On top of that the silver skid plate appears so elegant and now this face aligns with the top range models like Kia EV6 and EV9. Moreover, the inverted LED DRLs with Ice cube LED headlamps looks estatic. Without any doubt, the Clavis front end will create an positive impact on Indians.

Moving to the side profile, the all new 17 Inch crystal cut dual tone alloy wheels have their own charm, and comparing with Carens, the size of the alloys has grown and the overall finish. Also, the silver skid plate at the bottom of the doors adds another touch of elegance. Apart from these changes, everything on the side remains the same as Carens. Now, on to its rear profile, where the connected LED bar grabs the attention, the new age tail-lights have a smoke finish to them, and their size has also gone slimmer. Also, the bumper features a stylish skid plate, the same size as the front and in the middle features a brake light, plus two reflectors.

From all sides, the Carens Clavis is an mature and premium upgrade over Carens. Definately, its designed to cater the needs of Indians and 99% people will love it.

Kia Carens Clavis - Interior

Talking about the interior, this one features an all-new 26.62-inch panoramic display with a 12.25-inch infotainment display and 12.25-inch digital MID. This screen setup looks super crisp and minimalistic, with a super HD interface. Also, the dashboard has been toned down to a perfect position, which doesn't seem to occupy so much space like the Kia Carens. This indicates that the brand takes seriously the customer's feedback. Another new thing inside is the double D-Cut steering wheel, the new age Kia steering wheels, visible in Syros, and the new EV6.

Also, the dual-tone treatment of black and beige is top notch - that strikes a perfect balance between cool and classy. On top of the that, finally a panoramic sunroof is installed, which was not there in Carens. Post these updates, its same as before, in terms of seats, the no. of USB ports, and placement of ac vents in all three row. Another important aspect of this MPV is outstanding boot space, now with all three rows up, it offers 216 L of boot space, good enough to keep 2-3 mid-size bags. Plus, if fold the 3rd and 2nd rows - one can literally sleep in it.


Lastly, the Carens Clavis is ready to be booked, and comes with three choices of engines with multiple transmission options and in total 7 core variants, and its pricing will be out on 23rd of May.

Verdict
Carens Clavis looks stupendous and Kia has done a job well done. In terms of pricing, most likely it will start at Rs 10.50 lakh and will go up to Rs 20 lakh. Main rivals of it are same as before, Maruti XL6, Ertiga and Hyundai Alcazar. Bookings opened on 9th May and deliveries are expected to happen in early June.
