Exclusive - Maruti e Vitara Continues Testing Ahead Of September Launch

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Maruti e Vitara spied again testing ahead of launch.
  • Will feature two battery packs - 49 kWh and 61 kWh.
  • Design patent filed recently.

Maruti e Vitara first showcased at EICMA 2024 in Milan Itlay, and at Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, is projected to launch in September 2025. Its testing is still happening even after all these months. We at 91Wheels have spied it again testing on the outskirts of Delhi in a fully camouflaged outfit. These spy shots suggest that there are no visible changes compared to what we saw at the Auto Expo 2025, and most likely nothing will be changed in its interior. Let's learn more details about this Maruti's first electric car below, in the meantime, make sure to join  91Wheels WhatsApp Channel to never miss out on automotive updates.

Maruti e Vitara

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, one of the most anticipated launches of 2025, made its debut in India at Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in January. Since then, the whole automotive industry has been waiting for it to hit the roads, but Maruti Suzuki has maintained a pin-drop silence. Surprisingly, its testing is still happening after all these months, and it is expected to launch by September 2025. Moreover, these new spy shots don't tell any different story as everything is the same as before, but still, Maruti is trying to hide it from the public eye through protective black tapes.

On top of that, last week its design patent was filed in India, and now again its been spotted on roads. The e-Vitara design patent doesn't showcase any different design than what we saw at Auto Expo 2025. It's exactly the same and looks robustly modern. Moreover, there is a large single-pane sunroof too, and everything is the same as before. Now, this indicates that the launch might be soon. Moreover, this car will be manufactured in the Gujarat Plant and will also be exported from here, so India is the main hub of the all-new e-Vitara.

Maruti e Vitara Powertrain

Speaking of its battery pack, the e-Vitara will come with two options: 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The first one puts out 144 PS and 189 Nm of torque, sending all power to the front wheels. While the 61 kWh will have a claimed range of 500 km, the power will be 174 PS and 189 Nm of torque. On top of that, there is another iteration of this 61 kWh pack that sends power to all four wheels - but India will not be the market for this, the officials at Maruti informed us during Auto Expo 2025. So, both the single-motor options make this car only FWD.

As per a news report, September month is locked for it launch, which earlier was set as March 2025. Now, the whole automotive sector has been eagerly waiting to test Maruti's first electric car and there patience is being tested. Let's wait and see when the OEM puts out some clarifications.
