Kia has just revealed the Kia Carens Clavis, which is the Syros moment of the popular Carens MPV. While the reception of the more premium alternative of the Carens is nothing short of monumental, the pricing is yet to be revealed. Although official confirmation of the Clavis EV coming by next month and the Carens CNG for a short while after that, the next-gen Kia Seltos has been spied on test in India, revealing some details up close. Kia Seltos Hybrid Spied On Test- Major Cosmetic Overhaul In Sight

After a few days of probably being exposed in a recent Hyundai documentary, the next-gen Kia Seltos has been spied on test on Indian soil, hinting at stark visual disconnects from the current model. Even with heavy camouflage, the test vehicle shows quite a few design tweaks compared to the current model. Up front, we're seeing a redesigned split headlamp setup and vertically arranged LED DRLs, and it looks like they'll be connected by a strip along the bonnet line. This styling is pretty consistent with what we've seen on newer Kia models like the Syros and the Carens Clavis. Other things that caught the eye were the updated ORVMs and what seems to be an ADAS sensor in the front bumper. Not to mention the front grille that looks more prominent and bigger in size as well, adding to the chunky character at the front.

The SUV's side profile seems to keep that upright look, but with a bit more of a boxy shape and a revised window line. The alloy wheels are also new, but the design still fits in with Kia's recent styling direction. Moving to the back, the changes are likely to follow the recent launches with a connected light bar as well. The upcoming Kia Seltos is poised to elevate its cabin experience further, building on its premium positioning. Previously, spy shots suggested updates like more contoured, ergonomically improved seats with orange contrast stitching and built-in USB ports for rear passengers. A redesigned dashboard is also in the cards, featuring Kia's expansive 30-inch 'Trinity' display powered by Kia Connect 2.0, technology likely carried over from the Syros. All signs point to a tech-forward, upmarket direction for the next-gen Seltos, which will pamper the occupants a bit more than it does at the moment.

Powertrain Options

Kia is all set to introduce a hybrid variant, likely borrowing tech from the Hyundai Kona, which is a clear step toward a more electrified future. Expected to pair a 1.6-litre petrol engine with an electric motor, the setup could offer a combined output of around 140bhp and 265Nm, striking a balance between performance and efficiency. This move is part of Kia's larger roadmap to launch nine hybrid models globally by 2028, reflecting its commitment to evolving with market demands. Notably, the hybrid powertrain is expected to complement, rather than replace, the current engine lineup.

The launch is likely to happen around the festive season of 2025, which is around September. It will continue to rival the likes of Maruti Grand Vitara, Hyundai Creta, VW Taigun, Honda Elevate, and the Skoda Kushaq.
