Force Gurkha
The Gurkha has received its fair share of upgrades over the years, and Force Motors has also recently added a five-door variant as well, competing against the Thar Roxx. While the Gurkha competes directly against the Thar, its utilitarian nature suggests that it is targeted towards a different kind of buyer, who isn’t looking for too many frills from their car, and seeks more usability both on and off the road. This is further complemented by its interiors, set of features, and the availability of just one diesel powertrain, with no automatic transmission option.
Force Gurkha Latest Update
Last Updated On 25th Apr'25: Force Gurkha, a true off-roader, hasn’t received any update, and it's been quite a time. A rival to the Mahindra Thar, the Gurkha isn’t made for everyday usability, as it’s designed to explore unexplored locations.
This Indian SUV is one of the best off-road vehicles available in the market, capable of giving the Mahindra Thar a run for its money. Offering a massive 233 mm of ground clearance, the Gurkha is an unstoppable machine that tackles bad roads like a pro with its 2.6L diesel engine. It costs Rs 16.75 lakh, while the 5-door model is priced at Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom).

Gurkha Highlights
On Target
Force Gurkha is India’s most off-road capable SUV, easily outperforming the Thar, but it feels too old-school.
What We Like
A beast of an off-roader with differential locks, low-gear mode, and 320 Nm of torque
What We Do Not Like
Not as livable as rivals like Thar or Jimny. Too old-school to be a daily driver.
Gurkha Mileage
Fuel economy of less than 12 is extremely poor for an SUV of this size.
