Aprilia is testing a new middle-weight sports bike. This new motorcycle is destined to be launched in India by September. We presented you the clear images of it recently, but, now more clear images have surfaced online. Aprilia RS 400 New Details, Clear Images
As seen in these latest photos, the RS 440 test bike is using a fairing similar to the RS 660. In fact, there is a badge of RS 660 on it. However, the badge is probably placed to keep the design details hidden. With that said, the overall design is still more or less similar to the RS 660 sibling. The front is equipped with dual LED headlights and a small windscreen with a large side fairing. Additionally, it uses a curvy design theme that helps it look aerodynamic and there are not many aggressive design details. The posture of riding is a very typical sports bike and the large fuel tank means it'll offer a long-distance riding range as well. The rear-end design, however, is not captured & we suspect it'll also be similar to the RS 660.
Now, the most interesting detail that has emerged is the tyres. The test mule is seen using TVS Eurogrip tyres. These are extreme steel belt radial rubbers that accommodate good high-speed confidence. Interestingly, it is the first time that we've seen an international manufacturer using Indian tyres. It's good news as well as it hints that the RS 440 will be an India-centric product. Mechanically, we suspect that it'll get a 440cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine that shall make peak power in excess of 48 bhp (expected). The feature list will be long enough as we expect it to get switchable ABS, riding modes, TFT display, & connected features for phones as well.
Verdict
The RS 440 is expected to debut in India by September (rumoured). However, there is still no confirmation about it from the manufacturer to us. Meanwhile, the segment that it'll compete includes the likes of KTM RC 390 & Kawasaki Ninja 300. Additionally, Yamaha R3 is also going to debut in India by the upcoming Diwali festival. Therefore, there is a strong competition that the RS 440 will be taking on once it gets launched. We expect that it's pricing will remain upwards of Rs 3.30 lakh.
