Next-Gen Bajaj Chetak To Launch In December 2024

The electric vehicle segment has its challenges in the four-wheeler category, but when it comes to the scooter segment, it has seen some better days. While Ola and Ather opened up the space and gave the proof of concept, more brands entered the scene to take a chunk of the market size. Bajaj Chetak was one such model, and while it had a not-so-great start, the Chetak moniker, slowly but firmly planted itself since 2020 and now, it is all set to enter its next generation this month itself. Next-Gen Bajaj Chetak To Debut This Month

The next-gen Baja Chetak will be incorporating some very major updates with the practicality being mainly in focus. The brand is coming up with a new chassis that will move the battery to the floorboard, opening up more space on the floor. Another upside will be space for using a bigger battery pack that would result in extended range. However, even if a bigger pack is used, do not expect much of a difference in the driving range than the current IDC claimed a number of 123km and 137 km range.

Apart from this, visually, I don't expect the scooter to change from this accepted design language, especially after it took its sweet time for public acceptance and its simple no-nonsense look, works in its favor. Although a few tweaks here and there could be introduced for distinction from the older model, the overall appeal and appearance will largely be carried forward. Is it a good thing or a bad thing? Well, why to fiddle with something that's already working? However, new color options are something that has a high probability of being introduced with this update.

Price And Variants

The Baja Chetak currently comes in 3 variants starting at Rs. 96,000 for the 2903 variant with a 2.88 kWh battery and a claimed range of 123 km on a single charge. The top line 3201 trim comes at Rs. 1.27 lakhs ex-showroom. The third and the mid-spec variant 3202 is priced at Rs. 1.15 lakhs ex-showroom with a 3.2 kWh battery with a claimed range of 137 km on a single charge.
