TVS Motor is planning to introduce a new CNG powertrain option for its two-wheelers, starting with the TVS Jupiter 125 CNG scooter in India. TVS Jupiter 125 CNG: What To Expect?
TVS is planning to launch a CNG version of its popular Jupiter scooter in the 125cc category. The company aims to sell around 1,000 units of its CNG-powered scooters per month. This upcoming model is expected to hit the market between late 2024 and early 2025.
The current petrol version of the Jupiter 125 comes with a single-cylinder, 4-stroke, air-cooled engine that produces a maximum power of 8.04 bhp at 6500 rpm and a maximum torque of 10.5 Nm at 4500 rpm.
The company is very keen on exploring different powertrain options, including petrol, electric, and multi-fuel variants. Besides the CNG model, TVS has more upcoming launches in the pipeline. In a recent investor call, they mentioned plans to introduce another electric vehicle, an ICE vehicle, and a three-wheeler electric vehicle (E3W).

TVS is the second-largest scooter maker in India, capturing a quarter of the market with sales of about 1 million motorcycles and 500,000 scooters each year. They've expanded their TVS iQube scooter lineup recently.
Comparatively, the recently introduced Bajaj Freedom125 CNG features a PESO-certified CNG cylinder with a capacity of 12.5 litres. It combines a 4-stroke, air-cooled petrol engine with a 2-litre fuel tank. In CNG mode, it can achieve speeds up to 90.5 km/h and cover a range of 200 km. In petrol mode, it reaches a top speed of 93.4 km/h with a range of 130 km.
