Hero Xoom 110 Detailed Review
The XOOM is one of the sportiest looking scooters in the segment. This is important as Hero targetting the younger audience with this new model. The large DRL (daytime running light), the sharp cowl, sporty alloy wheels and sharp crease for the body panels - all these features come together to make this a little headturner. The exhaust muffler too is large enough. The XOOM rides on 12-inch wheels on both the ends. The rear tyre has a width of 100mm, making it wider than the tyre size on the Dio, Active and Jupiter. At 155mm though, the ground clearance of the XOOM is one of the least in the price band. The rear of this scooter looks nice as well with the X shaped LED and a modern looking grab handle that seems to be integrated with the body.
We were also pleasantly surprised with the overall quality of plastics as well as the fit and finish levels. Hero sells the XOOM in six different colours. These include Sports Red, Polestar Blue, Black, Matte Abrax, Orange and Pearl Silver White. No matter which colour you pick, the scooter will come with silver grey side lower body panels.

The Xoom makes use of the same 110cc engine that Hero uses in other scooters. However, expectedly, the motor has been tuned slightly differently. It makes peak power of 8.15 bhp and max torque of 8.70 Nm. While power is more than Dio, Activa and Jupiter, torque of the Xoom is the lowest even if by a tiny margin. During our riding stint it was apparent that the Xoom does offer peppy performance. Twist the throttle and it does zip ahead in traffic easily. Engine isn’t the most smoothest around though with some vibrations coming in at lower speeds. That said, once you get going in traffic, little vibrations do iron out. Twist the throttle and the Xoom hits 80 km/h pretty quick with another 5-10km/h possible if the road perits. Hero claims the Xoom is one of the most fuel efficient scooters in the segment. It also comes with i3S start stop tech wherein the engine shuts off at red-lights / when you stop the scooter. Twisting the throttle again will wake up the engine again : all this happens in a very smooth manner.

The Xoom 110 is offered in three versions of LX, VX and ZX. The base Xoom LX comes with steel wheels, LED headlamp, H shaped LED tail lamp, semi digital speedometer console, mileage indicator and just one colour option. The mid version Xoom VX additionally offers diamong cut alloy wheels, full digital speedometer console, i3S technology, wider rear tyre, front USB charger, boot light and 3 colour options. The top end ZX further adds a front disc brake, Hero’s intelligent cornering light, Bluetooth connectivity and as many as four colour options. Overall, the Hero Xoom 110 is pretty loaded for the segment.
We rode the new Hero Xoom 110 in a mix of city traffic and open roads. The larger 12-inch wheels both at the front and rear do help a lot in making this feel secure and planted. The telescopic front forks and off-set monoshock at the rear have been picked up from the Maestro and Pleasure scooters but tuned differently for the Xoom. The ride quality is slightly on the firmer side, keeping up with its sporty design. This firm ride aids when riding with a pillion - the suspension aids confidence around corners / curves and likewise, at higher speeds. In traffic, it is easy to close in on gaps and the riding posture felt comfortable. The floor board is also big which means riders with large shoes / boots will not have an issue.
