Pros & Cons of SP 125
What we admire in this bike
Build quality and fit-finish is superb
Engine performance is very silent and refined
Fuel economy inside the city is very good
Suspension offers a comfortable ride quality overall
Disc brake variants offer better control
What could have been better
Lacks punchy top-end performance
Rear suspension feels slightly stiff on bad roads
Boring design doesn’t appeal to young buyers
Should I buy the SP 125?
Honda SP 125 is a commuter bike that is positioned above the entry-level category. With its subtle design and good build quality, it offers a complete family package. However, it has very less features when compared to rivals. With its comfortable ride quality and Honda’s reliable setup, it is made for family buyers looking for a sensible everyday commuter.
- The Honda SP 125 is based on the bigger SP 160 but it looks and feels slim than it due to its smaller engine. The overall styling is subtle and it depicts a proper family commuter bike.
- Honda’s attention to detail is clearly visible throughout the motorcycle. The quality of the plastics, body panels, and overall fit and finish feels solid and premium for the segment.
- The SP 125 is a comfortable commuter bike with a single seat that offers good cushioning and space for two people. Also, its rider position is easy due to the handlebar tilted towards the rider and the footpegs positioned in the centre.
SP 125 body specifications:
| Ground Clearance | 160 mm |

- The 125cc engine on the SP 125 is taken from Shine. It is a very refined and smooth engine with slim to no vibrations. It is very responsive at low speeds and you can easily stretch it on open roads without any stress. The bike can easily maintain 70 kmph all day long.
- Refinement of this engine is best-in-segment. It has almost no vibrations and the engine doesn’t even feel strained during hard riding.
- The ARAI-claimed fuel efficiency of SP 125 is 60 kmpl. With easy riding within the city, the bike can give upwards of 55 kmpl.
SP 125 engine specifications:
| Transmission | Manual |
| Mileage | 65 |
| Engine | 123.94-124 cc |
- The suspension quality of the SP125 is its highlight. It has a very comfortable ride quality. Sharp potholes and undulations of the road are easily ironed out by its suspension. Even with a pillion, the bike remains calm and poised on the road.
- The handling of it is on the neutral side. It is a commuter bike and hence the handling is tuned for comfort rather than fun. However, the rider does not feel underconfident on bad roads, curves, and fast highways it.
- The disc brake variants of the SP125 offer strong braking power. However, these are steeply priced and there is no ABS option as well.
- In terms of features, the SP125 now feels more modern than before. It gets a TFT instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, voice assist, USB Type-C charging port, silent start, and full LED headlight setup.
- On the safety front, the SP125 gets a front disc brake option, wider rear tyre, side-stand engine cut-off, and integrated braking setup. However, it still misses out on a single-channel ABS option.
