The BS6 Suzuki Gixxer 250 looks a lot like the smaller sibling as it carries a majority of the aesthetic cues from the Gixxer 150. However, it has a higher street presence from better cycle parts and larger body panels. Also, the Suzuki Gixxer 250 has the most comfortable and confident riding posture in its segment, thereby making it easier for the rider to potter through city traffic or cover longer distances on highways.
The street naked motorcycle comes equipped with a single-unit aluminum handlebar, 800mm seat height, and mildly rear-set footpegs to ensure a comfortable stance for the rider. It makes the Suzuki Gixxer 250 more flexible, with a curb weight of 156kg ensuring it to be one of the lighter and more comfortable models in its segment. It gets a full LED package for tail and headlights and even has a stubby dual-port exhaust end-can that sounds and looks pretty good. The motorcycle is available in two color options, one is the blue sporty color with racer stickers on it and the other one is the black edition without stickers. However, Gixxer still misses out on a connected instrument cluster as it neither comprises Bluetooth connectivity nor navigation assist for the comfort of riders.
Suzuki Gixxer does not have a very modern design but it still manages to look handsome with its muscular body panels.
Considering that the Gixxer 250 is an entry-level quarter-litre streetnaked, it has pretty decent proportions. The motorcycle has a length of 2010 mm, a width of 800 mm, and a height of 1035 mm. The size of the wheelbase is 1340 mm while the muscular tank has a fuel-carrying capacity of 12 liters. It has a seat height of 800mm making it suitable for riders of all heights to potter through. It also has a split seat option to ensure high comfort while the mildly rear-set footpegs give the rider a sporty posture. It weighs 156 kgs, which is quite low for a 250cc motorcycle. Furthermore, the motorcycle benefits from 165 mm ground clearance to help it glide over speed breakers effortlessly.
Suzuki Gixxer is a sporty naked bike that has a high street presence due to its good proportions and muscular design.
The BS6 Suzuki Gixxer 250 is a sweet performer. The street-naked motorcycle comes equipped with a 249cc 4-stroke single-cylinder oil-cooled engine. This BS6 motor churns out 26.5 PS of maximum power at 9300 RPM and 22.2 Nm of peak torque at 7300 RPM. The performance, ride quality and handling is a plus point. The engine is a powerful one that has a great torque availability as low as 3000 rpm while it revs cleanly up to 8500 rpm without many vibrations.
It comes mated with a six-speed gearbox that offers precise gear shifts and the clutch lever is also light to operate. A slip-and-assist clutch alongside adjustable levers is missing from the bike but still, at this price point, a lot of features and good specifications have already been given. The bike rides on telescopic forks up front and a mono-shock at the rear. There’s enough power to easily cover longer distances and even potter through city traffic all day long. Also, fuel efficiency is pretty good for a motorcycle of this segment with the ARAI-rated figure being pegged at 35 kmpl.
Gixxer is a stress-free motorcycle meant to ride whole day long without stress. The performance of the engine is thrilling for a motorcycle of its segment while the fuel mileage is pretty good, too. The engine is also high on refinement and offers a smooth power delivery.
Suzuki Gixxer comprises a set of telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. It rides on 110/70R17M/C 54S-spec tire at front and 150/60R17M/C 66S-spec rubber at rear. It also comes equipped with front and rear disc brakes that are assisted by a dual-channel ABS. The brakes have a progressive bite and the feedback from the levers is also quite good.
To complement the mass-forward design of the motorcycle, Suzuki introduced a complete LED package for the BS6 avatar, which means the taillights as well as the headlights are quite contemporary. Talking further about a few attractive aspects of the bike, it comes with a bigger front disc (300 mm), brushed finish alloy wheels, fuel injection technology, twin-muffler exhaust, stiffer front suspension, clip-on handlebars, split seat and grab rails and wider tyres. Also, it’s worth mentioning here that Suzuki was the only one to introduce an oil cooling system in engines for creating lightweight and faster engines to provide high performance for a wide range of needs, ranging from city-riding in traffic to long-runs on highways.
The Suzuki Gixxer 250 comes with a sufficiently long list of features, especially at the price point at which it’s sold. Also, it gets pretty wide tires and a potent braking system.
