Triumph Daytona 660: A Sports Tourer or a Sports Bike?

The Daytona name has been a cult among sports bike enthusiasts worldwide. The previous-gen model was known for its sharp design and cutting-edge performance. Now, Triumph India is all set to make its comeback. However, it'll be a modest comeback this time as the new bike has a smaller engine and less power.

The front design gets dual-headlights like the old model Daytona

It is based on the Trident 660 platform and gets a full-fairing design. Unlike the old model which was a proper track tool, the new bike is more generous for road use. One can also claim it to be a sports tourer rather than a super sport.

The new-gen Daytona gets a smaller 660cc engine

While the design looks beautiful, its engine makes a modest 95 bhp and 69 Nm of peak power and torque. It is much less than the outgoing bike. But, the Daytona will get the maximum power in the 660cc lineup. It has a steel perimeter frame and has Showa adjustable rear and front suspension.

The new Daytona is expected to launch in the coming weeks in India

Not long ago, Triumph commenced the bookings unofficially in India. The bike is already on sale in the global markets. It is sold in three colours: Snowdonia White, Carnival Red, and Satin Granite. The India models will also get similar colour options.

Feature-wise, it gets LED lights, a TFT console, Bluetooth connectivity, dual-channel ABS, and three ride modes: Road, Rain, and Sports. We expect its pricing to be somewhere in between Rs. 9.5 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom).

Verdict

Triumph India has witnessed a surge in sales with its 400cc bikes. The return of the iconic Daytona brand will strengthen the brand value for the company. Tell us in the comments what you think about the upcoming Daytona 660 below.
