TVS X

TVS Managing Director, Sudarshan Venu, has confirmed the launch of the TVS X, along with a new iteration of their popular iQube - so two products are officially in the pipeline. This leaked design patent is not of the TVS X, as that scooter was launched last year in 2024, and its deliveries are yet to commence. However, it could possibly be the updated version of the iQube - or something entirely different.
Another important point to consider is that this design patent was filed in Indonesia, which raises the possibility that it might be intended solely for global markets and may not launch in India at all. We are looking at it from the angle of upcoming affordable TVS electric scooter.

Decoding The Patent Images

The front angle of the scooter resembles the iQube, as the front apron appears to be an extension of it, featuring a slightly slimmer DRL section that also integrates the turn signals. The front shroud highlights the area for the headlight, while the wheel size looks larger - around 14 inches. From the side profile, it showcases a flat body with a completely flat seat. The side body panels are quite large, indicating the presence of a mid-mounted battery pack.

The rear section again looks like an offspring of the iQube, with a similar LED tail-light setup. The grab handles appear sporty and are positioned in a way that suggests aerodynamic intent. At the rear, it gets twin shock absorbers and 12-inch wheels. Other expected features include a digital display, a keyhole, a glovebox, and a charging port. Altogether, these traits make for a perfect recipe for an affordable electric scooter from TVS.

Verdict

Well, this might be the most affordable TVS electric two-wheeler that Sudarshan Venu was referring to - we believe. There's a strong need for an affordable electric scooter, as the iQube currently starts from Rs 94,432. That said, the Indian market has shown acceptance for EVs, and a product priced between Rs 70,000 to Rs 80,000 could easily become a top seller. As of now, it's too early to draw conclusions, as the design of this product has only been leaked in international markets. So, let's wait and watch for further developments.
