Bajaj Chetak 3001 Launch Likely Soon

Underneath its familiar skin, the Bajaj Chetak 3001 is anticipated to be powered by a 3 kWh battery pack paired with a 3.1 kW electric motor. While specific performance figures are still under wraps, given that the Bajaj Chetak 2903 boasts an IDC (Indian Driving Cycle) claimed range of 123 km, we can expect the 3001 to deliver a similar respectable range, perfectly suited for everyday urban commutes. Its top speed is likely to be capped around 62-65 kmph, aligning it well with city traffic demands. However, it is still unclear if it will replace the 2903 variant or will be places alongside it.

To achieve a more competitive price point, Bajaj may opt for a slightly pared-down feature list for the Chetak 3001. However, riders can still anticipate a fully digital LCD console, which should provide essential information and support basic connectivity functions like call, SMS, and notification alerts. Visually, the new variant is expected to retain the elegant and consistent body design that has become synonymous with the electric Chetak range over the years. Dimensionally, it's set to measure 1,914mm in length, 725mm in width, and 1,143mm in height, offering a ground clearance of 168mm with a wheelbase of 1,355mm.

Price, Rivals, And Expected Launch

Price-wise, Bajaj is reportedly aiming to position the Chetak 3001 aggressively, targeting an ex-showroom price of around the Rs. 1 lakh mark. This strategic pricing would put it in direct competition with other affordable electric scooter variants such as the TVS iQube, Ola S1 X, and the Ather Rizta. Whether the Chetak 3001 will manage to undercut its rivals or simply offer a compelling alternative at this crucial price point remains to be seen as more official details emerge with its expected launch this week.

Verdict

Bajaj has gained significant traction in the electric scooter space where it gives tough fight to the Ola line-up and with eyes all around, the brand wants to continue this growth streak, and hence is always keen on staying relevant with timely and necessary updates. However, the road ahead might not be that straightforward as more and more players enter into the mix, making things even tougher than ever.
