CEAT Launches India's First Sound Absorbing EV Four-Wheeler Tyres

Component manufacturers are concentrating their efforts on EV-specific products as the adoption of electric vehicles rises in India. As a result, CEAT Tyres has introduced a new line of tyres designed exclusively for electric four-wheelers. The CEAT EnergyDrive tyres are the new electric four-wheeler-specific tyres. The company claims that these tyres are designed to absorb noise and vibrations more efficiently.

CEAT has used the brand's patented sound-absorbing material, known as CALM (CEAT Acoustic Lowering Material) technology, is used in the new tyres. This patented sound-absorbing substance helps to filter and absorb vibrations, hence reducing noise.

The EnergyDrive tyre also receives a brand-new cavity design dubbed EasyFlex that aids in lowering rolling resistance and extending the driving range of the electric vehicle. Considering that EVs are known for their quick torque delivery, DuraBlock technology in the new EnergyDrive tyres gives these tyres better block stiffness and reduces tread flexing. Better stiffness prevents the tyres from deforming as the vehicle turns, extending the life of the tyres on electric vehicles (EVs), which have more torque than normal cars.

Arnab Banerjee, COO, CEAT said, This marks the first time that a tyre such as EnergyDrive has been launched aimed at four-wheeler EVs in India.  EVs are generally very silent vehicles with high torque, making the tyre noise more evident. Our EnergyDrive range of tyres with CALM technology, tackle this problem for EV owners in the country. We hope to emerge as the preferred tyre for EV owners.

With a 50% market share, CEAT is already the market leader in India's two-wheeler EV tyre market. With the introduction of specifically created tyres for the Tata Ace EV, the company has already entered the commercial market.
