Well established for its reliable engineering and fuel-efficient nature; the Activa sells like hot cakes. But, as the current gen Activa is getting older, is the new Honda Activa 7G coming to India soon? Will it ever launch? What to expect and what to not? Honda Activa 7G India Details
The Honda Activa 6G remains the king of the gearless scooters in India. But, its been into production for too long now. The potential customers and Honda admirers have already started to seek for an update of it. However, the dreams of new 7G Activa seems to be quite a bit far from today.
Its not been much long since an unnamed Honda test scooter was spied on Indian roads. The rumors spread like a wildfire that it is the upcoming 7G Activa. Well, it was not. Honda has showcased a more powerful 150cc engined scooter globally. It is named Honda Supra GTR 150 and is currently on sale in selective international markets. This scooter is the most probable replacement for the current Activa.
It is powered by a 150cc, single-cylinder engine. This engine makes a peak power of 15.4 hp and 13.5 Nm of peak torque. The power is used via a CVT transmission. The Supra GTR 150 competes directly with the Yamaha Aerox 155 maxi-scooter overseas.
The sales of Activa 6G still remain in one of the top-selling scooters in India. But, now things have started to change for it. The segment is growing at a rapid rate and new rivals are pouring in every now and then. The segment is now getting choked with competition and technology. This means that the time for the 6G is ticking away faster than expected now. A replacement is indeed waiting from Honda.
So, will the Activa 7G make to the launch in India? Well, we suspect that the upcoming 2023 Indian Auto Expo will be the answering event to this question. If there are serious plans from Honda regarding the Activa; the Auto Expo will show them. Until then, we wait.
