Honda CB200X ADV Launched, Shares Aplenty with Hornet 2.0

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has just announced the launch of their entry-level ADV motorcycle for our market. Dubbed Honda CB200X, the new model costs Rs 1,44,500 (ex-showroom) and shares its engine as well as the frame with the Hornet 2.0

At this price point, the Honda CB200X finds itself positioned between the Hero Xpulse 200 and Royal Enfield Himalayan, the two thoroughbred entry-level ADV motorcycles that have found a fairly wide acceptance among adventure riding enthusiasts. However, if the bike manufacturer is to be believed, the CB200X is a middle-of-the-road ADV that feels at home as much in the urban environment as it does on the tar-less paths.

Powering the new motorcycle is the same 184cc, single-pot, air-cooled motor that propels the Hornet 2.0. For the new offering, this engine belts out a maximum power of 17 hp along with a peak torque of 16 Nm. It comes mated to a 5-sped transmission. Also, the CB200X is suspended by gold-finished upside-down (USD) front forks and a monoshock. The highlights of the equipment list include a tall fairing visor, all-digital liquid crystal digital instrument console, knuckle guards, off-road spec tires, all-LED lighting, split seat setup, raised and swaged handlebar, dual petal disc brakes with ABS, engine kill switch and hazard lights.

Meanwhile, the digital instrument console offers good visibility for the read-outs irrespective of the riding conditions. This unit provides gear position, service due reminder and battery voltmeter. It also offers 5-level adjustment for the brightness. The new model will be sold in three colour options - Pearl Nightstar Black, Matte Selene Silver Metallic and Sports Red.

Talking on the launch Atsushi Ogata, Managing Director, President & CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, Today, it is my great pleasure to introduce a new motorcycle, inspired by Hondas legendary CB legacy. Keeping in mind the evolving lifestyle of the Indian youth, the urban explorer - CB200X gives todays youngsters a riding experience that pushes them to explore more. Built to excite riders, CB200X offers a perfect riding companion for their daily city rides and short weekend getaways beyond the cityscapes."
