Maruti Three-Row SUV Y17 In Works - To Rival Alcazar And Carens

Maruti Suzuki is said to be working on a new three-row SUV that will take on the rivals like the Hyundai Alcazar. Internally known as the Y17, this new Maruti three-row SUV will be based on Ertiga's platform. While the brand is yet to reveal any official launch timeline, here are all the details that we know so far. Maruti is working on introducing a number of new SUVs in the Indian market in the coming months. Having said this, the three-row SUV underdevelopment is expected to be based on Ertiga's platform and may replace the XL6 in the brand's line-up. Apart from this, the car is also expected to feature major design updates that will help it give a strong competition the rivals like the Hyundai Alcazar, upcoming Kia Carens, MG Hector Plus, etc. The new Y17 seven-seater SUV will offer a premium design and will offer features like LED headlights, stylish alloy wheels, rear wipers, request sensors on front doors, etc. On the safety front, the car will offer dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, seat belt reminders, speed alert system, and ISOFIX mounts as a part of the package while the brand may also offer other, more advanced features.

The new Maruti Y17 is expected to retain the same 1.5-L engine that powers many other Maruti models like the Ciaz, Vitara Brezza, Ertiga, and the XL6. This engine is expected to be offered with a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic gearbox. The Indian carmaker is also expected to offer an improved version of the mild-hybrid tech to offer better fuel economy figures and slightly better performance in urban traffic. More details however are yet to be confirmed. Inside, in addition to a comfortable and spacious cabin, the car is expected to be offered a six and a seven-seat layout while on the features front, it is expected to be offered with automatic climate control, automatic headlights, automatic wipers, cruise control, steering mounted controls, a large touchscreen Smartplay infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
