Ultraviolette X-47

Following the strong response to the X-47, Ultraviolette has introduced Battery Flex, a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) ownership model aimed at making its electric motorcycles more accessible. Through this initiative, developed in partnership with green-focused NBFC Ecofy, the company is separating the battery cost from the motorcycle, allowing buyers to purchase the Ultraviolette X-47 starting at Rs 1.49 lakh, while subscribing to the battery at Rs 2,499 per month.
As a result, customers can pay upfront for the bike's chassis while financing the battery through a predictable monthly plan. With this move, Ultraviolette hopes to reduce the initial purchase cost and make advanced electric mobility easier to adopt. More importantly, the collaboration signals a broader push to accelerate sustainable transportation in India while bringing high-performance EV technology within reach of a larger audience.

Narayan Subramaniam, CEO & Co-founder at Ultraviolette commented, "At Rs 2.5 lakh, Ultraviolette was at price parity with similarly powered ICE motorcycles. Now, with a starting price of Rs 1.5 lakh, riders gain access to better technology, features, and performance that outpaces
every segment. With operating costs as low as Rs 2499 per month, which is lesser than the average spends on petrol, we are redefining what affordability means in motorcycling. The introduction of
Battery Flex makes performance, technology-driven mobility more attainable and practical for riders across India, while keeping the focus firmly on what matters most: the thrill of riding an
Ultraviolette."
Verdict
With the introduction of Battery Flex, Ultraviolette is attempting to lower the entry barrier for its electric motorcycles by separating the battery cost from the vehicle price. This BaaS model could make the X-47 more accessible to buyers who are hesitant about the high upfront cost of EVs. However, its long-term appeal will depend on how customers perceive the monthly subscription model and the overall ownership experience.
