Should I buy the Hypevolt-R?
The Keeway Hypevolt-R is worth considering if you want a premium electric scooter with distinctive styling, strong claimed performance and advanced technology. It is best suited for buyers who want more than a conventional city commuter. Buy it if you value a 115 km/h claimed top speed, removable battery packs, a claimed 180 km range and premium features such as dual-channel ABS, traction control, cruise control and a rear-view camera.
However, buyers looking for proven after-sales support, stronger resale value and a more established ownership experience may want to consider alternatives such as the TVS X or BMW CE 02. The Hypevolt-R is best for riders who value exclusivity, performance and futuristic design.
- The Keeway Hypevolt-R has a futuristic and unconventional design that clearly separates it from regular electric scooters. The sharp front apron, vertically mounted LED headlamps and full-width lighting elements give it a premium and aggressive appearance.
- Unlike a traditional family scooter, it does not get a fully open step-through layout. The central spine and motorcycle-like body structure make it look sportier, while the chopped rear section adds a distinctive bobber-inspired visual character.
- The raised handlebar, apron-mounted instrument console and sleek side panels make the overall design look clean and modern. The flat rider and pillion seats are neatly integrated, while the 770 mm seat height should make it accessible for most riders.
Hypevolt-R body specifications:
| Ground Clearance | 130 mm |

- The Hypevolt-R gets a 5-inch colour TFT instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity, phone pairing and alerts. It also features keyless operation, reverse mode, USB Type-A and Type-C charging ports, along with 27 litres of under-seat storage.
- The feature list is one of the scooter’s biggest highlights. It gets traction control, hill-hold control, hill-descent control and cruise control, making it more advanced than most electric scooters currently available in India.
- Keeway has also included blind-spot detection and a rear-view camera. These features should improve convenience in city traffic and while parking, although their real-world usability will need to be evaluated after riding the scooter.
- The Keeway Hypevolt-R is powered by a mid-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor that produces 12 kW, or around 16 bhp, of peak power. This makes it one of the more powerful electric scooters in the premium segment.
- Keeway claims that the scooter can accelerate from 0-40 km/h in 2.3 seconds. This should result in quick city performance, strong initial acceleration and effortless overtaking in traffic conditions.
- The claimed top speed of 115 km/h gives the Hypevolt-R stronger highway capability than most mainstream electric scooters. It also gets Eco, Normal and Sport riding modes, allowing riders to choose between better efficiency and stronger performance.
- The Hypevolt-R gets two removable battery packs with a combined capacity of 5 kWh. Keeway claims an IDC-certified range of 180 km on a single charge, which is competitive for a premium performance electric scooter.
- The removable battery setup is useful for apartment residents and buyers who do not have access to fixed charging infrastructure. The batteries can be removed and charged indoors, improving everyday convenience.
- Keeway claims that the battery can be charged from 0 to 80 percent in around three hours. However, the actual riding range will depend on riding mode, traffic, rider weight, terrain and how aggressively the scooter is ridden.
- The Keeway Hypevolt-R rides on 14-inch alloy wheels at both ends, wrapped in 100/80 front and 120/70 rear tyres. The larger wheel setup should offer better stability and confidence, especially at higher speeds.
- Suspension duties are handled by telescopic front forks and five-step adjustable twin rear shock absorbers. The adjustable rear suspension should help riders tune the setup according to solo or pillion usage.
- The mid-mounted motor layout and central spine could offer better weight distribution than conventional hub-motor scooters. However, the 130 mm ground clearance may require riders to be careful over larger speed breakers and steep ramps.
- The Hypevolt-R gets disc brakes at both ends, supported by dual-channel ABS. This is an important addition considering the scooter’s claimed 115 km/h top speed and performance-oriented positioning.
- The larger 14-inch wheels and wider rear tyre should also improve stability during braking. Dual-channel ABS is expected to offer better control in emergency braking situations and on wet or low-grip roads.
- Its safety package is further strengthened by traction control, hill-hold control and hill-descent control. Blind-spot detection and a rear-view camera add more convenience, making it one of the most feature-rich scooters in its category.
