Last Updated On 24th Jan'25: The BYD Sealion 6 is a P-HEV SUV from China, and it made its debut in India at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The Sealion 6 is the SUV version of the BYD Seal, the electric sedan launched in March 2024. This SUV claims a range of up to 1,092 km and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds.
Design: The Sealion 6 length is 4,775 mm, just 5 mm shorter than BYD Seal. The front end of this plug-in-hybrid SUV is 90% similar to the Seal, but boasts a different bumper with lots of horizontal stacks finished in chrome, that separates it from the sedan. Its 19 Inch alloy diamond cut alloy wheels also adds to its contemporary SUV aesthetics and appears elegant. The rear end doesn’t resemble at all with the seal and design of LED tail-lights are different and the bumper is also critique.
Powertrain: A 1.5-liter petrol engine, paired with an 18.3 kWh battery pack, delivers a maximum power of 323 PS and 550 Nm of torque, with an AWD drivetrain. Additionally, the same setup is available with a FWD option, where the power figures are slightly lower. Other key features include, NFC key, panoramic sunroof, Level 2 ADAS, digital driver’s display, infinity audio system, ambient lighting, 8-way electric adjustment for the Driver seat, 4-way electric adjustment for the Passenger seat.
Expected Price: The BYD Seal falls within the price bracket of Rs 41 lakh to 50 lakh, so it’s fair to assume that the Sealion 6 will start around Rs 45 lakh and go up to Rs 55 lakh. Additionally, internationally, it is offered in two variants - FWD and AWD. In India, however, only the AWD variant is expected to be sold, considering the current automotive trend.

The car looks absolutely awesome, and I hope it comes fully loaded with features. However, the price seems quite high for this segment. Considering the tough competition in the market, the pricing should be reconsidered. If the price is reduced, I would definitely consider buying it.
