Toyota Hilux Facelift Overview

Last Updated On 24th Mar'26:

Design: The facelifted Toyota Hilux gets a significant styling update while retaining its tough pickup character. The front now features slimmer LED headlamps connected by a trim strip with bold ‘TOYOTA’ lettering, along with a redesigned grille that differs between ICE and EV versions. A muscular bumper, large skid plate, and squared wheel arches keep the rugged appeal intact. The side profile continues with the dual-cab pickup layout, but with new alloy wheel designs and revised cladding. At the rear, vertically stacked LED tail-lamps, bold tailgate lettering, and a chunky bumper give the new Hilux a more modern and aggressive stance.

Ergonomics and Comfort: Inside, the new Hilux feels far more premium than before, with a completely redesigned dashboard and improved material quality. The cabin now features dual 12.3-inch displays for the infotainment system and digital instrument cluster, giving it a modern and tech-focused layout. The seats are expected to offer better cushioning for long drives, while powered and ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and rear USB ports improve comfort for all passengers. Toyota has also added electric power steering in some variants, which should make city driving easier without compromising off-road capability.

Powertrain: Toyota is offering multiple powertrain options with the updated Hilux, including petrol, diesel, mild-hybrid, and fully electric versions depending on the market. The familiar 2.8-litre diesel engine continues, now paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system to improve efficiency and low-speed performance. The all-electric Hilux uses a 59.2kWh battery with dual motors for all-wheel drive, producing strong torque for off-road use. Toyota claims a range of over 240km for the EV version. In the future, the Hilux will also get a hydrogen fuel-cell powertrain, showing Toyota’s push towards multiple electrification technologies.

Hardware: The new Hilux continues to be built on Toyota’s IMV ladder-frame platform, known for its durability and off-road strength. The chassis has been updated to support both ICE and electric powertrains without compromising capability. Features like Multi-Terrain Select, improved suspension tuning, and a strong body-on-frame construction ensure the pickup remains suitable for rough roads and heavy-duty use. The Hilux also retains its 700mm water-wading capacity, high payload rating, and strong towing capability, making it one of the most capable lifestyle pickups in its segment.

Features: Toyota has added several new features to make the updated Hilux more modern and convenient. The pickup now gets a large touchscreen infotainment system, fully digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, connected car tech, and a 360-degree camera. Safety has also been improved with the latest Toyota Safety Sense ADAS suite, including proactive driving assist, blind-spot monitor, emergency stop assist, and driver monitoring. Other additions like ventilated seats, multi-terrain monitor, and OTA updates make the new Hilux feel more like a premium SUV than a traditional pickup truck.

Market Availability and Alternatives: Toyota will begin launching the new Hilux in global markets from late 2026. Since the current Hilux is already sold in India, the updated model is likely to arrive here as well, possibly as part of Toyota’s future product expansion plans. Once launched, it will continue to compete with the Isuzu V-Cross and other lifestyle pickups, but with the addition of electrified powertrains and more technology, the new Hilux could appeal to a wider range of buyers looking for both capability and modern features.
