Next Generation Of Toyota Hilux Will Launch On 28th July, Here's Everything It Will Offer

Toyota Hilux, globally known as one of the most indestructible pick-up trucks, enjoys a high status in India. This pick-up truck was launched here in 2022, and in four years, it has built a strong name for itself in off-road communities. On 28th July 2026, its ninth generation globally, and second for India, will launch. Built on the same Toyota IMV platform, this pick-up truck will arrive in a fresh new avatar, with new features and interiors. It will also lay down a blueprint for what to expect from the next-generation Toyota Fortuner. But let's focus on the upcoming Hilux and everything it will feature.

Toyota Hilux

The ninth generation, or second for India, will retain the same underpinnings: the ladder-on-frame chassis, and the tried-and-tested 2.8-litre diesel with 48V mild-hybrid assistance. Power output and gearbox options will remain similar too, with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic on offer. All the changes are in how it looks and the interior it comes with, and on that front, it looks ready to conquer every road.

Exterior Design

Toyota Hilux

The face of the new Toyota Hilux is all upright. It gets a body-coloured honeycomb grille and a massive bumper featuring a satin-finish skid plate, with fog lamps on the edges. This section is all straight lines and sharp angles. Above it sits a black slate with Toyota lettering, sandwiched between new LED headlights that are thin and long. These give the face of the new Hilux a dominant, masculine look. The bonnet has sculpted lines, and every angle of this car speaks to its off-roading capability.

The side profile is quite similar to the outgoing Hilux, with the same A and B-pillar design and similar pull-type door handles. Moving toward the bed area, the theme continues with a sturdy sport bar, and the tail-lights feel like an enhanced version of the previous ones with a different internal element. The alloys are 18-inch, all-black, matching the overall aesthetic. It looks like a solid upgrade, and the ride height appears to have increased too, though we can't confirm that until we compare the two cars directly.

Interior Design

Toyota Hilux

First impressions from the photos are positive. The interior looks noticeably richer than the current trim, which feels quite basic in comparison. The standout element is the new Toyota logo and lettering, along with switch-based controls on the sides, clearly inspired by the Toyota Land Cruiser, the brand's flagship. The infotainment touchscreen and digital driver's display are both 12.3-inch units. Air-conditioning is dual-zone, there are 8 speakers, and it also gets a cooled glove box for chilled drinks on the go. The driver's seat is 8-way adjustable, and overall, the cabin finally feels modern, something that's been missing for a while, as with every Toyota update.

Tech and Safety

For the first time ever, the Hilux will feature an electric steering wheel replacing the hydraulic setup, which happens as this truck comes with Level 2 ADAS, so to give it full operation, an electric power steering is required. Apart from these, the rear-differential lock is now standard on 4X4 trims.

Moreover, it will come with a 360-parking camera, a multi-terrain-select with toggle Dirt, Sand, Mud, Rock, Snow modes. Moreover, the infotainment screen will get updates from the OTA. Lastly, it is equipped with 6-airbags, abs with EBD, and rear-disc brakes.

Talking about the pricing, it is most likely to launch at Rs 36 Lakh and will go up to Rs 47 lakh (ex-showroom), considering the newer models of a high-range car always starts at little more.
