Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire 2017-2020

India’s largest selling car is indeed a sedan, and not a hatchback any more. The Dzire remains unbeatable and a major reason for this is also due to the availability of a commercial version that is sold under the Dzire Tour brand name. The Dzire brand name made its entry into India in October 2008 and has been seen as a Swift with a boot. While that is true to an extent, the Dzire does offer a premium appeal and being a sedan, has a better brand recall. The cabin too is different with the light color theme adding to the sense of space. Infact, the current gen model is an all-new car that improves massively on the space front. The Dzire finally gets much needed space on the inside, better quality levels and a layout that looks premium. The current Dzire is sold in as many as fourteen verisons, six of them being automatics. Yes, like the Swift, the Dzire too is available with optional automatic with both the fuel types. It gets powered by the same 1.2 litre petrol and 1.3 diesel units that are seen in the Swift. Being light weight, both performance and fuel efficiency are among the best in the segment. This is one area where the Dzire trumps over others. The smoothness of the motors, lack of vibrations and long term reliability factors cannot be overlooked. Even in terms of comfort, the new Dzire ticks the right boxes. It might not offer the same dynamics as say the VW Ameo, but does the job well for most buyers. With year long discounts in place, the Dzire continues to offer shattering value for money and there is every reason for us to recommend this entry level sedan to those looking at upgrading from a smaller hatchback.
