The Nissan Gravite makes a strong case as an affordable Indian family MPV. Even with attractive pricing, Nissan hasn’t cut corners at all. The interior feels spacious and practical with good quality materials. The upcoming dual-CNG cylinder version allows all three rows to be used without compromise. While we would have liked to see a more powerful turbo-petrol option, the Gravite still comes across as a sensible and highly usable package. Segment-best extended warranty and very low maintenance costs are the icing on the cake.

Ample practical storage spaces make it a great family tripping vehicle

Segment best extended warranty of 10 years, plus the lowest maintenance costs

The optional AMT gearbox makes urban driving easier, without sacrificing efficiency

What could have been better

A turbo petrol engine for the higher versions would have attracted more buyers

While the AMT gearbox is easy-going, with a full load, the setup feels sluggish

Very limited boot space with all 3-rows in place

While the CNG option will offer low running costs, it will offer sluggish performance under full load

The Nissan Gravite has been launched in India at an introductory price of Rs 5.65 lakh (ex-showroom) and is available in eight variants. It is powered by a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. It will compete with the Renault Triber, Maruti Ertiga, and Toyota Rumion.
