Toyota Prius PHEV Latest Update
Last Updated On 24th Jan'25: The Toyota Prius PHEV, one of the world’s best-selling liftback vehicles, was showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. Its sleek, sloping design attracted a lot of attention at the event, and many were surprised by its specifications. Although there has been no official confirmation about it coming to India, we believe Toyota should bring back this highly efficient hatchback.
Design: The Toyota Prius PHEV's design draws a lot of inspiration from the swan, a bird known for its long neck and its tendency to spend most of its time in lakes. The Prius exudes swag, appearing wide and low, bringing a striking concept design to life. However, this model doesn’t have a sporty flair; instead, it has a suave, refined appeal.
Powertrain: This plug-in hybrid liftback vehicle is powered by a 2.0L flex-fuel engine paired with a 13.6 kWh li-ion battery. The engine alone produces 222 PS and 190 Nm of torque, while the electric motor generates 163 PS and 208 Nm of torque. According to the specifications, it can travel up to 87 km on electric power alone in EV mode.
Features: The largest screen inside measures 12.3 inches and serves as the infotainment display. There's also a dedicated 8.0-inch screen for the driver's display. Other features include 8 JBL speakers, a panoramic sunroof, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, electronically adjustable seats with ventilation, and an electronic tailgate.
Expected Price: As there is no information about the Prius PHEV coming to India, if it does launch, its starting price would likely be around Rs 40 lakh ex-showroom. It would compete with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and MG iM5.
