Bentley’s First Electric Car Named Torcal, Global Debut On September 23, 2026

Bentley, the UK's top luxury carmaker, is stepping into the electric arena and has announced the name of its first-ever EV, called Torcal. It will be a high-performance electric SUV, positioned below the Bentayga. As per the brand, the name Torcal is based on the natural rock landscape El Torcal de Antequera, situated in Andalusia, Spain. Adding to this, a zoomed-out picture of its rear profile has also been made available by the brand, showcasing the Bentley logo and the number plate on the bonnet with this moniker, along with a hint of LED tail-lights that are thin and long. More information about this car is below.

This car's platform will be the same as the Porsche Cayenne Electric, the Volkswagen Group's PPE platform. So it will have a dual-motor setup. Considering the same underpinnings as the Cayenne Electric, we expect the Torcal to make above 1000 horsepower, as the top variant, the Cayenne Turbo Electric, puts out around 1140 horsepower and does 0-100 km/h in 2.5 seconds. That's how we expect the Torcal to perform.

The same goes for range. Almost 530-545 km, derived from a battery pack of 113 kWh. That's massive. Peak charge rate goes up to 400 kW. With a DC fast charger of this capacity, a 10-80% charge can happen in around 20 minutes. Bentley has previously stated that its advanced charging setup will deliver 161 km in almost 7 minutes.
Design Expectations

This car is based on a concept called the Bentley EXP 15, which was first showcased about a year ago. Going by that, the Torcal will be a smaller car than the Bentayga, at least in length, with a completely new, unimaginable front end from the house of Bentley, just as the concept was. It has an illuminated large front grille, with lights shaped like a katana, all LED, with proper airflow. The shape resembled a swingback SUV and reminded us of a yacht. The rear section had giant LED strips running across the entire boot lid, creating the shape of an inverted C.

This concept was extremely attractive and gave us high hopes, but the real car will likely be different. One can only keep expectations high, because it's Bentley.
September 23, 2026
Bentley has locked in the date for its first-ever electric SUV, and its global debut will happen in London, on September 23, 2026. This is a big moment for the 107-year-old British marque. The Torcal joins the Continental GT, Flying Spur and Bentayga as a standalone nameplate, not a replacement for any of them.
The Torcal wasn't originally meant to land this late. Under the Beyond100 strategy, first announced in 2020, the brand's debut EV was slated to arrive in 2025. Weak demand for luxury electric cars pushed that back to 2026, and the car has now slipped further still, with the full reveal only happening this September.
The delay says something bigger about where the company stands. The original plan called for an all-electric lineup by 2030. That target has since moved to 2035, replaced by a steadier commitment: one new EV or plug-in hybrid every year through the decade, rather than a rushed switch to electric-only. It's a more cautious path, but perhaps a more honest one, given how the segment has actually played out.
