
Citroen has started the trial production of C5 Aircross in India and has rolled out its first model. The C5 Aircross will be a CKD SUV and the expected price will be sub Rs 30 lakh mark. With this, it will rival with Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace, upcoming Skoda Kodiaq, Honda CR-V, Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner.
The manufacturing plant of Citroen is based at CK Birla's facility in Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu. The trial production units will be thoroughly tested on Indian roads. The ones spotted were CBU units and the locally-assembled units will roughly explain the quality of the SUV.

The upcoming Citroen C5 Aircross will be locally assembled that is brought in via CKD route. Had it been a CBU then the cost would have been higher than Rs 30 lakh mark. Since it is a CKD SUV, it will come in a single variant with all the bells and whistles.

Feature-wise it will come with a panoramic sunroof, split LED headlights, electronic parking brake, dual-zone climate control, electrically adjustable driver's seat and among others. For entertainment purpose, it will come with a larger 8.0-inch touchscreen unit with modern connectivity features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For the driver, there will be a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

Citroen C5 Aircross measures 4,500 mm in length, 1,859 mm in width, 1,670 mm of height and with a wheelbase of 2,730 mm. For comparison, the wheelbase of Honda CR-V stands at 2,660 mm so you should it for yourself that which SUV offers a spacious cabin.

The mechanicals of this SUV will come with a single 2.0L turbocharged diesel engine which makes as much as 180 bhp and will get an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Earlier, the plan was to bring a smaller 1.5L diesel which made 131 bhp but looking at the expected Rs 30 lakh price mark, a bigger engine makes more sense.

Safety features like ABS with EBD, Traction control, ESP, hill start assist, traffic sign recognition, blind spot assist, auto high beam feature, multiple airbags are some of the lists that will be seen on the upcoming Citroen C5 Aircross.
