Hero Vida VX2 To Be Available With BaAS Scheme; Details

The VX2 will be the second only scooter in Vida's lineup, and the first one to be offered with a Battery As A Service scheme, which further signals Hero's intentions of targeting a wider audience base by bringing down purchase and ownership costs, by allowing customers to pay for the scooter and the battery separately. Much like what we have seen on various low-cost scooters, and also on cars like the MG Windsor, the BaAS scheme will allow buyers to pay a nominal fee for usage of the battery.

As for the scooter itself, the VX2 will feature a much more tamer, conservative design than the V2, and it will also likely come with far lesser features. A closer look at its recent teaser also suggests that it will not get disc brakes, but this could just be for the base variant, and we can expect a range-topping variant with nearly all the bells-and-whistles.
Currently, Hero MotoCorp offers three battery pack options on the V2; there's the 2.2kWh unit, followed by the 3.4kWh and the 3.9kWh units. When the VX2 debuted at the EICMA 2024 as the Vida Z, the bikemaker said this scooter could feature multiple battery pack options. Given its positioning, it is likely that the VX2 could come with at least the 2.2kWh and the 3.4kWh battery pack options, unless Vida decides to develop some new options altogether, which cannot be ruled out either.

The undisguised test mule of the Vida VX2 had a smaller instrument cluster, likely a TFT unit, and there was also a key slot, which does confirm there will not be keyless functions on this one. That said, we can at least expect basic bluetooth connectivity with navigation on the higher trims.

Verdict
The Vida VX2 is going to be interesting, given that this will be the first serious affordable option from Hero MotoCorp in the electric mobility space. With the details set to come in on July 1, one can't help but draw parallels to what Hero did with the Splendor years ago.
