Hero Vida VX2 Is Vida Z; Images Reveal Rebadging

Hero MotoCorp is set to expand its EV lineup with the launch of the Vida VX2 on July 1, and showroom images have now confirmed that the scooter is essentially the production-ready version of the Vida Z shown earlier this year. Styled in a vibrant matte yellow, the VX2 follows a cleaner and more minimalist aesthetic compared to the Vida V1 and V2. It features a stepped single-piece seat instead of a split setup, a compact tail section with an LED tail lamp, and familiar 12-inch wheels from the Vida line-up. The overall silhouette and proportions hint at an urban commuter focus with a youthful twist, a more affordable price tag, it is expected to be a quick seller.

The VX2 appears to adopt a slightly scaled-down tech package compared to its V2 sibling. It includes a digital dashboard, expected to offer touch functionality on higher trims, operated via a joystick control on the handlebar, along with an SOS switch and a front storage pocket. Interestingly, unlike the keyless Vida V2, the VX2 reverts to a traditional key-based ignition system. The scooter gets a telescopic front fork, dual rear shock absorbers, and a front disc brake, staying consistent with what's expected in this segment. Assess all these pointers, keeping in mind that this is a more affordable option.

Much like the V2 series, the VX2 will feature removable batteries, with the top-end variant likely equipped with dual battery packs totaling 3.4 kWh, delivering a real-world range of over 100 km. The base variant is expected to come with a single 2.2 kWh pack. Power will come from a direct-drive permanent magnet motor, though output may be slightly toned down from the 6kW peak seen in the V2, although fast charging compatibility will remain intact, as the VX2 is expected to support Ather Energy's public charging network.

Expected Price And Rivals
With a more restrained feature list and simplified design, the Vida VX2 is expected to undercut the current V2 series, which ranges from Rs 85,000 to Rs 1.35 lakh (ex-showroom, including central subsidies), making it a more accessible option for budget-conscious urban riders looking to transition to electric mobility. And once launched, the Vida VX2 will go up against a host of established electric scooters in the entry-level to mid-range segment. Its key rivals include the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, and Ola S1 series. With its removable battery setup and Heros expanding EV ecosystem, the VX2 aims to offer a practical, well-rounded alternative in this highly competitive space.
Verdict
The Vida VX2 looks to be Hero's answer to the growing demand for affordable and practical electric scooters, especially for urban use. With familiar underpinnings, useful features, and a more approachable price point, it could become a strong volume player in the EV two-wheeler space. But with fierce tussle amongst the rivals, it will not just depend on the price point, as it is not a great defensible barrier.
