Honda is gearing up to launch the Honda Hornet CB750 in India in the coming days, expanding its big bike portfolio with a street-naked offering that shares its DNA with the XL750 Transalp adventure bike already on sale here. The Hornet CB750 packs the same 755cc, liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine, churning out 92 hp at 9,500 rpm and 75Nm of torque at 7,250 rpm. With this powertrain, it promises to be one of the most potent streetfighters in its segment, but you guess it right, it will be accompanied by a premium price tag as well.

Honda has also kitted it out with a competitive features list that includes four riding modes (Sport, Standard, Rain, and User), switchable traction control, a slip-and-assist clutch, and a 5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity. All-LED lighting enhances its modern appeal, while an optional bidirectional quickshifter adds to the performance-focused package.

The Honda CB750 Hornet is expected to arrive in India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), with pricing likely to fall between Rs 8.80 lakh and Rs 9.20 lakh (ex-showroom). This positioning places it in close proximity to Honda's own CB650R, though the Hornet offers a fresh twin-cylinder alternative in a segment that has seen a noticeable void in recent years.

Verdict

Once launched, the CB750 Hornet is expected to sit in a sweet spot for riders seeking a versatile middleweight that balances spirited performance with everyday practicality, a true all-rounder in a class with little direct competition. Pricing will be key, but if Honda plays it right, the Hornet could carve out a solid niche in India's premium motorcycle space, where buyers are now ready to pay more for a motorcycle as well.
