If you are an automotive enthusiast like us, the Auto Expo is no less than a wonderland for you as well. One of the biggest Auto Shows in India, which took place back in January 2025 in New Delhi, is finally getting back to its original roots. As per some latest reports, the next dates for the Expo are set in 2027, which means that the show is back to its biennial form like the old days. Read on to see what it means for you, the manufacturers, and why I feel this is a nice step in restoring what it actually meant in its pure essence. Auto Expo Set For February 2027: Skips Annual Ritual

Auto Expo

In a significant update for India's automotive calendar, the Bharat Mobility Global Expo, formerly known as the Auto Expo, is reportedly returning to a biennial (once-every-two-years) format. While it was initially planned as an annual event under its new identity, industry sources now confirm that the next edition will only take place in February 2027. This move marks a return to tradition and is expected to offer a more practical timeline for automakers, giving them ample breathing room to fine-tune upcoming product lines, develop more advanced tech, and plan major unveilings with greater impact.

The next edition of the Bharat Mobility Global Expo is reportedly all set to take place from February 4 to 9, 2027, across multiple key venues in the Delhi-NCR region. These include Bharat Mandapam (New Delhi), Yashobhoomi (Dwarka), and the India Expo Centre & Mart (Greater Noida), the same trio that hosted the 2025 edition. The decision to revert to a biennial format is a calculated shift aimed at giving automakers and mobility players more time to develop future-ready innovations and ensure a stronger, more meaningful presence. Organizers are also looking to scale up the global appeal of the show by encouraging deeper international participation and expanding the showcase to cover the entire mobility spectrum, from EVs and hydrogen tech to logistics and future transport solutions.

Industry observers see this revised schedule as a smart, long-term move. Rather than staging an annual event with limited fresh content, the biennial model promises a more impactful and content-rich experience, both for exhibitors and the public. Not just this, the annual event took away the anticipation of the event where manufacturers were also struggling to deliver newer models or tech in such a short span.

Verdict

Auto Expo going back to its roots only brings joy to the enthusiast in me that felt the essence of the show being diluted with an occurence each year. Now, the anticipation, the scale, the partcipation, and most importantly, the reveals and launches at the Auto Expo will be more comprehensive and advanced with manufacturers having more time to showcase what they are truly out to achieve. While the 2025 iteration was a good show, I'm hopeful for an even more eventful 2027. Stay tuned as we cover the event in all its glory and detail as we always do.
