Maruti Grand Vitara Charging In Under 50 Minutes & More

Maruti Suzuki has officially confirmed that the Maruti e-Vitara will make its debut in September 2025, marking the brand's much-anticipated entry into the electric vehicle segment. Positioned as a direct rival to the Hyundai Creta EV, MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv EV, and Mahindra BE.06, the e-Vitara aims to finally carve a space in the competitive mid-size electric SUV market.

Leaked specifications reveal that the e-Vitara will be offered with two battery pack options, 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The top-spec 61 kWh variant will reportedly deliver a range of over 500 km, with fast-charging capabilities allowing it to juice up from 0-80% in under 50 minutes via a DC charger. Performance figures show that this version can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in under 9 seconds. Meanwhile, the 49 kWh variant, while slightly slower, still delivers a respectable 0-100 km/h time of 9.6 seconds.

The Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara packs a host of premium features including a dual-screen setup (10.25-inch infotainment and 10.1-inch instrument cluster), wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, leatherette upholstery, ambient lighting, 10-speaker Infinity sound system, panoramic glass roof, ventilated front seats, 10-way powered driver seat, sliding rear seats, wireless charging, and a PM 2.5 air filter. It also offers multiple drive modes, one-pedal driving, regenerative braking, Level 2 ADAS, 7 airbags, TPMS, blind spot monitor, 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, and an electronic parking brake with auto hold, and more.

Battery And Specs
The upcoming Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara will have two battery pack options, each paired with a single electric motor. The 49 kWh variant will deliver 142 bhp and 189 Nm of torque, while the 61 kWh version ups the output to 172 bhp, maintaining the same torque figure. Both setups are expected to prioritize efficiency and urban usability, but with a decent punch of performance for highway runs as well. The e-Vitara will offer multiple drive modes, Eco, Normal, and Sport, allowing drivers to tailor the vehicle's performance and responsiveness based on driving conditions.
Verdict
More details and pricing, will be revealed closer to launch, but it's clear that Maruti Suzuki is aiming to make a strong first impression in the EV space. This is a long time coming as well where the industry is pivoting to be more inclusive towards the sustainable mobility. Another big push would be the emphasis on safety that the brand is taking currently, especially now when the Arena line-up comes with 6 airbags as standard.
