JSW Jetour T2 Patent Filed: Details

JSW Jetour T2

The recently filed design patent of the JSW Jetour T2 reveals a boxy, upright SUV with strong off-road-inspired cues. The Jetour T2 adopts a squared-off silhouette with pronounced wheel arches, flat body panels, and an upright stance. Up front, the SUV features rectangular headlamp units, a blacked-out grille with textured detailing, and a chunky bumper design. The side profile showcases conventional door handles, running boards, squared ORVMs with integrated indicators, and roof rails, reinforcing its utilitarian appeal. At the rear, vertically oriented tail lamps, a flat tailgate, and a spare wheel mounted externally under a protective cover complete the rugged theme.

Globally, the Jetour T2 is positioned as a feature-rich SUV, and the India-spec model is expected to follow suit. The cabin layout includes a large 15.6-inch central touchscreen paired with a 10.25-inch digital instrument display. Other premium features are likely to include a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, ventilated and powered front seats, a multi-speaker premium audio system, a 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS. Additional convenience features such as multiple drive modes, vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability and intelligent voice controls are also part of the international specification.

JSW Jetour T2

For India, the Jetour T2 is expected to be introduced exclusively in plug-in hybrid (PHEV) form. The system combines a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with an electric motor and a 26.7 kWh battery pack. The hybrid setup produces around 156 PS and 220 Nm from the combustion engine, while the electric-only range is rated at 139 km (NEDC cycle). Power is managed through a dedicated hybrid transmission, allowing seamless switching between EV, hybrid and engine-driven modes. Both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations are expected to be offered. Fast charging capability enables a 30-80 percent top-up in approximately 30 minutes.

If launched around the projected price point of Rs 20-30 lakh (expected), the Jetour T2 could position itself as one of India's more accessible plug-in hybrid SUVs. It would compete indirectly with premium three-row SUVs while also offering an alternative to fully electric options such as the Tata Sierra EV, Hyundai Creta Electric and Mahindra BE 6.

Verdict

The Jetour T2 represents a strategic move by JSW Motors to enter India's premium SUV segment with a differentiated proposition. Its rugged styling, plug-in hybrid powertrain and expected feature list position it as more than just another three-row SUV. However, success will depend heavily on pricing, localisation strategy and after-sales network development. If JSW manages competitive pricing and strong support infrastructure, the Jetour T2 could emerge as an alternative for buyers looking for electrified performance wrapped in a traditional SUV silhouette.
