Tata Tiago EV Facelift: Changes Expected

The heavily camouflaged Tata Tiago EV facelift test mule hints at a redesigned front fascia. The nose appears reshaped with what looks like a blanked-off grille treatment, typical of Tata's latest EV design language. Sharper LED headlamps and revised DRL signatures are visible, suggesting a more modern and aligned look with Tata's newer electric offerings. The front bumper also seems reworked, possibly featuring a revised lower intake and repositioned fog lamps. Covered alloy wheels could indicate new aerodynamic designs aimed at improving efficiency, whereas minor tweaks at the rear, including updated tail-lamp detailing and a refreshed bumper, are also expected.

Inside the cabin, updates are expected to focus on technology and perceived quality. The Tiago EV facelift could receive a larger touchscreen infotainment system, potentially matching Tata's newer 10.25-inch unit seen in other models. A redesigned two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo is also anticipated, along with a refreshed digital instrument cluster. Improvements in materials and trim finishes may help the hatchback feel more premium. Feature additions such as wireless charging, enhanced connected car functionality, and possibly expanded safety suite could also be introduced, depending on the variant structure.

Powertrain & Battery Options
At its core, significant revisions are not expected with the Tiago EV facelift. It is likely to continue with the existing 19.2 kWh and 24 kWh battery pack options, with the larger unit offering a claimed ARAI-certified range of up to 315 km. While the core powertrain setup is expected to remain unchanged, there is speculation that Tata could consider introducing a higher-capacity battery, possibly the 30 kWh unit seen in the Punch EV, to enhance range figures. However, no official confirmation has been provided on this front yet.
Verdict
The Tiago EV remains one of India's most affordable electric cars and plays a crucial role in Tata's EV strategy. While larger and more premium products like the upcoming Tata Sierra EV will aim to push the brand further upmarket, the Tiago EV will continue to serve as the gateway model for first-time EV buyers. Keeping it fresh with periodic design and feature upgrades ensures Tata maintains its leadership in the mass-market electric segment, however, a slight price hike could accomany the new update.
