Mercedes C Class AMG, GLC, GLC AMG - Reason Behind The Recall

According to the manufacturer, the bolting of the steering coupling in the affected cars may not have been torqued to the correct specification during assembly. Over time, this could loosen the mechanical link between the steering wheel and the steering rack, increasing the risk of reduced steerability in rare situations.

This recall covers a total of four units:

  • One unit of the standard GLC built on 19 September 2022
  • One unit of the Mercedes C Class AMG manufactured on 20 September 2023
  • Two units of the GLC AMG, produced between 17 July 2024 and 31 January 2025

Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that authorised service centres will inspect the steering coupling on the recalled vehicles and tighten or replace components if necessary. The entire process will be carried out free of charge. Owners are being proactively contacted by the company's dealer network, but customers can also check their vehicle's status using the VIN at their nearest dealership.

Mercedes Cars Now Cheaper By Upto Rs 11 Lakhs Post GST 2.0

Mercedes-Benz India has slashed prices across its lineup following the GST 2.0 revision, which standardises luxury car taxation at 40% from September 22, 2025. The cuts range up to Rs. 11 lakh, with popular models like the A-Class Limousine, GLA, C-Class, and GLC seeing notable reductions, while the E-Class LWB now starts at Rs. 78.5 lakh. At the top end, flagship models like the S-Class and GLS offer the biggest savings, with the S 450 4MATIC dropping to Rs. 1.88 crore. The move not only enhances affordability but also sharpens Mercedes-Benz's as well as other car manufacturers' value proposition in India's competitive luxury car market, just in time for the festive season.

Verdict

While the number of cars involved is extremely limited, Mercedes-Benz's swift recall highlights the brand's commitment to customer safety and product reliability. Owners of the affected models are advised to get their vehicles inspected at the earliest for complete peace of mind. This timely action is aimed at ensuring that even minor defects do not compromise the premium ownership experience expected from a luxury marque like Mercedes-Benz.
