New Yamaha Electric Scooter Indian Debut Soon? Here Is What To Expect

With electric mobility picking up pace rapidly in recent years, a number of new brands launched their new products in the market and following the trend, Yamaha is now all set to launch its new electric scooter. While the brand is tight-lipped about the launch of this new Yamaha Electric scooter in the Indian market, we do expect that this new electric scooter will soon make its debut soon. Here are all the details that we know so far about this upcoming Yamaha electric scooter in the Indian market.

For starters, this new electric scooter will be unveiled on April 11 and is expected to officially launch in the country soon after. The Japanese carmaker sent an official invite to its authorised dealers. While no details were mentioned on the invite, the brand did describe the upcoming two-wheeler as a stylish, sporty, exciting and new future. Furthermore, the brand also registered a trademark for the Name E01 in the Indian market. The brand also trademarked the name EC-05 for the Indian market.

The EC-05 is already on sale in Taiwan and was developed in collaboration with Taiwan-based Gogoro INC. If reports are to be believed, this new electric scooter might have a maxi-style design language and will rival the more premium offerings like the Ather 450X, Bajaj Chetak, etc. This new scooter will also get features like a full-digital instrument console, Bluetooth-based connectivity features, and Yamaha's smartphone app.

While the official specifications and other details are yet to be revealed by the brand, what we do expect is a claimed range of over 80-90 km on a single charge and a top speed of around 80-100 kmph. Just like other Yamaha scooters, this electric scooter is expected to offer a comfortable ride quality. Other features include LED lights, alloy wheels, disc brakes, ABS, etc. The brand might also offer a subscription-based plan and battery swapping infrastructure with the new Yamaha electric scooter in India.
