Production-Spec Kia Sonet Spied in India - Have A Look At The Images!

A few days ago, Kia Motors officially revealed that the production-spec Kia Sonet will be unveiled really soon. The Kia Sonet Compact-SUV will make its World Premiere in India on 7th August 2020. The Sonet will be the third offering from the South Korean Car Manufacturer in the Indian market. Kia Motors made its debut in the Indian market with the Seltos SUV in 2019. It was followed by the launch of Kia Carnival Premium MPV at the 2020 Auto Expo. The concept version of the Sonet Compact-SUV was also showcased at the Auto Expo. Now, the Production-Spec model of the Kia Sonet has been Spied in India. Have a look at the images to know how it looks.

As you can see in the images, the spied models were finished in Red and Grey colour shade. Kia Motors has already teased the front fascia of the production version of the Sonet which reveals new details. The Sonet gets all-LED headlamps with LED DRLs. It gets blacked-out Kia's Signature tiger-nose grille at the front. The teaser image also gets subtle red-inserts which hint that just like the Seltos, it might also get a GT trim. The bottom-end of the front profile gets sporty bumpers and large skid plates.

If you remember, the concept version of the Sonet got plush-fitting door handles. But, now the spied images of the production-spec model reveal that it will conventional door handles. The spied images appear to be the base-spec model, likely to be called HTE as it gets very minimal features. It doesn't get even alloy wheels, instead, it gets steel rims with wheel covers. Moreover, while the higher variants will get chrome-surrounded window line and roof-rails, the spied model gets none.

What this HTE trim does get is the body-coloured door handles, body-cladding all around and also skid plates both at the front as well as at the rear. Coming to the rear profile of the car, so it gets a LED taillamp and a high-mounted stop lamp. The taillamps of the car are connected by a thin red-coloured strip which isn't illuminated. It might be possible that the top-spec trims get an illuminated LED strip in between to enhance its appeal. Below, this red-coloured strip, it gets Kia's logo and the reflectors are integrated on the bottom part of the rear bumper. So, the base model of the Sonet looks really good and the mid and top-spec versions will be even more attractive.

The interior of the car has also been captured but it reveals very minimal details. What we can see is that the Sonet gets a flat-bottom (there is no or very minimal transmission hump), so it will be very spacious at the rear too. Moreover, we can also see that it gets rear AC vents, so it will be a good place to be in during long-distance highway journeys. The dashboard could not be captured but we do know that the top-spec models will get Kia's UVO connected car technology, a large 10.24-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an electric sunroof and many more features, including even some segment-first ones.

It will also get a powerful 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit which is likely to be offered in the GT trim. All the powertrain options might come with both manual gearbox as well as an automatic transmission. It will also get an intelligent manual transmission (iMT). The Kia Sonet will make its World Premiere in India on August 7, 2020. It is expected to be launched just after the official debut, i.e, somewhere around in September 2020. It is expected to be priced in the ballpark of Rs. 7 lakhs - Rs. 12 lakhs, Ex-showroom. It will rival against the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford Ecosport, Mahindra XUV 300, Tata Nexon and Hyundai Venue. What are your thoughts on the images of the spied production-spec Kia Sonet SUV?
