Mumbai-based start-up Strom Motors has today finally launched its trike in India. This isn't a regular trike, it is an electric trike and for those who don't know, let me tell you that trike is basically a three-wheeled vehicle. The Strom R3 electric trike was originally slated to be launched in March 2020 but due to the coronavirus pandemic, its launch was delayed. Today, the Strom R3 electric trike has been officially launched in India at a starting price of Rs. 4.5 lakhs. Here are all the details about it.
First of all, if we talk about the powertrain of the EV, so it is powered by a 15 kW electric AC motor that churns out 20.4 PS of power and a whopping 90 Nm of torque, mated to a single-speed automatic transmission. The Trike EV comes paired to a lithium-ion battery pack that is claimed to have a 1 lakh+ kilometre of life span. The Strom R3 can be charged via a regular charger that takes just 3 hours to fully juice-up the batteries and the charging port is placed at the rear. It also has an electronically limited top speed of 80 kmph.
The Strom R3 EV will be available in three variants. They are R3 Pure, R3 Current and R3 Bolt. Now, while the R3 Pure and R3 Current get a claimed range of 80 kms per charge, according to the company, the new R3 Bolt can deliver a range of upto 200 kilometres in a single charge. Now, as the R3 is a trike, it gets two wheels at the front and a single wheel set-up at the rear. It has a very edgy design and gets sweptback headlamps, round taillamps, all-around glass for better visibility and even an electric sunroof with a rear spoiler. Talking about dimensions, it measures 2907 mm in length, 1450 mm in width, 1572 mm in height and gets 13-inch alloy wheels.
The new Strom R3 is quite feature-rich too as it gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with 4G connectivity, voice and gesture control, turn by turn navigation, mobile connectivity and more. It also gets a 4.3-inch digital instrument cluster with onboard GPS navigation, air-conditioning, power windows, and many more. So, what do you think of the price of the new Strom R3 Electric?
