The all-new 2021 Tata Safari is powered by a BS6 compliant 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine. This diesel motor churns out 170 PS of maximum power and a whopping 350 Nm of peak torque. The oil-burner comes mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and it gets a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission too. The Mahindra XUV 500, on the other hand, is powered by a BS6 compliant 2.2-litre mHawk155 diesel engine that is boosted by a sixth-generation electronically controlled Variable Geometry Turbocharger (eVGT). The oil-burner churns out 154 PS of power and 360 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

New Safari vs Mahindra XUV 500 - Seating Layout and Features

The new 2021 Tata Safari is available as a six-seater and a seven-seater SUV while the Mahindra XUV 500 is available in the seven-seat layout only. The XUV 500 gets a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is compatible with both Android Auto as well as Apple CarPlay. It gets Mahindra's Blue Sense application connectivity too. Some other features include an electric sunroof, automatic climate control, pillar-mounted rear AC vents, Arkamys 6-speaker sound system, etc. The new Safari is more feature-loaded than the XUV 500 and it gets an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with again Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. It also gets the connected car features with iRA connectivity, a 9-speaker JBL music system, a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster, a massive panoramic sunroof and many more goodies.
