Yamaha has officially rolled the Aerox-E in the Indian market, with prices starting at Rs 2.81 lakh (ex-showroom). The scooter wears the same sporty, sharp-edged silhouette that made the petrol-powered Aerox 155 a hit with younger buyers, but underneath that familiar styling sits an all-new electric platform. Moreover, the Aerox-E is claimed to deliver an IDC-certified range of 117km and can touch a top speed of 95.5km/h when ridden in its most aggressive mode. At launch, the scooter is available in a single glossy white shade, finished off with black panels and pale blue graphic elements.

Design-wise, the Aerox-E stays close to its petrol sibling, retaining the same sharp, sporty maxi-scooter stance that has made the Aerox 155 popular among riders. Sharp body panels, split LED headlamps and a stepped seat carry over largely unchanged. However, Yamaha has added EV-specific touches, including fresh graphics, subtle blue accents and a reworked floorboard and underseat area to accommodate the new battery hardware. The scooter has a wheelbase of 1,360mm and tips the scales at 139kg, making it around 13kg heavier than the standard Aerox 155, largely because of the added battery weight.
Battery & Motor

The Aerox-E is equipped with a pair of removable lithium-ion battery packs, each 1.5kWh, adding up to a combined 3.0kWh of capacity. Being removable, owners get the flexibility of charging the batteries either while mounted on the scooter or by taking them indoors, which should work well for riders without dedicated charging points at home. Yamaha states that a single pack needs roughly 3 hours and 10 minutes to go from empty to full, whereas charging both packs together takes close to 6 hours and 20 minutes.
Power comes from a centrally mounted electric motor that produces a peak output of 12.6bhp and 48Nm of torque. The setup offers three distinct riding modes such as Economy, Standard and Power that lets riders pick between efficiency and outright performance depending on the situation. There's also a Boost function, activated via a switch on the handlebar, which unlocks a short 10-second window of additional performance for quick overtakes or spirited riding.

Features and Safety

As expected from a flagship offering, the Aerox-E comes loaded with features that includes a full-colour TFT instrument cluster that displays turn-by-turn navigation, along with call and message alerts synced through the Yamaha Y-Connect smartphone application, which also lets owners keep tabs on ride data and scooter health. Convenience features extend to keyless ignition and a reverse assist mode for easier manoeuvring in tight parking spots, while illumination duties are handled entirely by LED units front and rear.
On the safety front, Yamaha has equipped the Aerox-E with a traction control system to manage wheel slip, paired with single-channel ABS for controlled braking. Stopping power comes from disc brakes at both ends. The scooter sits on 14-inch wheels shod with a 110-section tyre up front and a wider 140-section unit at the rear, a setup that should aid both stability and cornering grip given the scooter's sporty positioning.
Market Positioning and Warranty
The Aerox-E is a direct challenger to performance-focused electric two-wheelers already on sale, including offerings from Ather, TVS and Ola. Apart from that battery pack comes backed by a 3-year or 30,000km warranty, which should help ease early-adopter concerns around long-term ownership costs. Power is handled by a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM), and the Y-Connect app extends beyond ride stats to include a last-parked-location feature, adding a layer of everyday convenience that's becoming standard for this segment. Deliveries are expected to commence shortly through Yamaha's Blue Square dealership network across select cities.
