Yamaha recently launched its first electric scooter EC-06 at Rs. 1.68 lakh (ex-showroom). This scooter can go up to 169 km on a single charge. Power & Modes

Yamaha EC-06 has a motor that produces 9.1 HP of power and 26 Nm of torque, whereas the Ather 450X has a motor that produces 8.5 HP of power and 26 Nm of torque. Clearly, the figures show that the EC-06 is outperforming the Ather 450X in terms of power. The EC-06 can reach a top speed of 79 kmph, whereas the Ather 450X can achieve a top speed of 90 kmph.

The EC-06 has three ride modes - Eco, Standard, and Power. On the other hand, the Ather 450X has five ride modes such as SmartEco, Eco, Ride, Sport, and Warp.

Battery & Charging

The EC-06 has a 4 kWh battery with a certified range of 169 km. It takes around 10 hours to charge from 0-100% and about 8 hours to go from 0-80% using a home charger.

The Ather 450X comes with a 3.7 kWh battery pack that has a certified range of 161 km. It takes around 4.5 hours to charge from 0-80% and about 5.5 hours for 0-100% using a home charger.

Clearly, Ather 450X is more easy to handle with it's light weight and more ground clearance. However, Yamaha EC-06 is more practical with bigger under seat storage.

Features & Pricing

Both electric scooters are equipped with disc brakes on both wheels, but the EC-06 has a pair of 14-inch wheels, whereas the Ather 450X has 12-inch wheels. Both scooters have a combi braking system but do not offer ABS. Both scooters also feature park assist to help in tight spaces. The EC-06 has an LCD display, whereas the Ather 450X comes with a TFT display, and both are equipped with connectivity features.

The price of Ather 450X is Rs. 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom). However, the Yamaha EC-06 is Rs. 17,000 more expensive, priced at Rs. 1.67 lakh (ex-showroom).

Verdict

The Yamaha EC-06 stands out with slightly higher power, bigger wheels, and a marginally longer range, making it suitable for comfort-focused riders. However, the Ather 450X offers better top speed, faster charging, more ride modes, and a lower price, making it a more practical and feature-rich choice for most buyers.
