Expert Verdict on Classic 350
The new Classic 350 is a stylish neo-retro motorcycle. It has a good balance of speed and road presence. We appreciate the new J-series platform and engine for its smoothness. However, it lacks top-end performance and features compared to its competitors. This lowers its appeal

Pros & Cons of Royal Enfield Classic 350
Should I buy the Classic 350?
If you love old-school retro bikes, the Classic 350 should be your prime consideration. It’s a typical roadster and it offers a stunning design. The build quality of it is also top-notch and Royal Enfield has majorly ironed all of the flaws of its previous gen. The cherry on the cake is the new J-series chassis & engine. It’s now more vibration-free and more enjoyable to ride. But it is not a fast bike and can’t comfortably cruise at triple digit speeds. It is for buyers who want a peaceful riding machine. It offers charm and riding pleasure. However, rivals like Jawa & Honda CB350 offer better high-speed performance.
- The main essence of the Classic 350 since its launch is the design. It’s a proper retro bike which provides the appeal of riding an old-school bike. The heritage of the Royal Enfield brand also adds to its appeal. We love how beautiful it looks even when parked roadside. Adding to its appeal are the colour combinations which make it a proper eye candy on the road.
- There are various small elements which make it looks proper retro. The round headlight with chrome cowl, split seats with removable pillion seat, chrome casing on the engine, & the short barrel exhaust can draped in chrome. All of these elements make it look outstanding & retro.
- Due to the chrome spoke wheels used, it has no tubeless tyres. Hence, it’s a bit hefty to handle during the case of a puncture. Also, it has no LED lights.
Classic 350 body specifications:
Seat Height | 805 mm |
Weight | 195 kg |
Wheel Size | 19 inch & 18 inch |
Fuel Tank Capacity | 13 liters |
- The new J-series chassis used from the Hunter 350 has made the new Classic 350 a far better bike than the outgoing model. The build quality & the fit & finish has also improved multiple folds. We love how there are no cheap materials used on the whole bike. Every single part feels rich in quality. The chassis has very less visible robotic welds which make it even more clean in looks.
- Powering it is the new J-series engine. While the engine capacity & power figures are as same as the outgoing model, it provides a much better experience. The long stroke engine is rich in low rev torque. This means it can easily climb the steep inclines without needing acceleration. Also, the vibrations of the old UC engine are absent on it. Therefore, the highway riding experience is also stress free & relaxing.
- While we have not tested the fuel economy of this engine, multiple users report that it can easily deliver upwards of 35 kmpl which is very good for its size & weight. Also, all thanks to the new 5-speed transmission, the new bike feels much more user friendly. Speaking of the stress-free cruising speed, it is best used under 90 kmph. Post 100 kmph, the engine runs out of breath.
Classic 350 engine specifications:
Mileage | 35-41.55 kmpl |
Engine Displacement | 350 cc |
Top Speed | 115 kmph |
Power | 20.2 bhp @ 6100 rpm |
Torque | 27 Nm @ 4000 rpm |
- The specs of the new Classic are the same as the old bike. In terms of front suspension, it gets telescopic forks. The rear gets dual shockers. The combination of these work majorly fine but it is on the sharp undulations and rough roads where you realize that the suspension tuning is on the stiffer side. However, you’ll not feel it most of the times also the rear suspension is a 6-step preload adjustable which you can tune as per requirement.
- The highway manners are very well controlled. The straight-line stability of the new bike is superb. All thanks to the 18-inch rear wheel & 19-inch front wheel mixed with nicely tuned suspension. The city agility of the bike also good due to the new suspension tuning.
- Features list on the new Classic is not long. It gets a semi-digital instrument console which has a small digital display. You can see the fuel gauge and the tripmeter as well as odometer on this MID. Rest, it has no Bluetooth connectivity, no LED lights, & no USB charging options as well. Although, you can buy alloy wheels as an accessory if you want.
- The new-gen Classic 350 is equipped with disc brakes at both ends. The front disc is 300mm while the rear disc is 270mm in size. It comes with a dual-channel ABS option, if you for the top models. But, the base model comes only with a single-channel ABS.
