Mahindra KUV 100 NXT is a smart-looking car for its size and segment. Most of the panel designs are proportionate and the overall looks feel at home on the Indian turf. Buyers can also relate the front design to the C-SUV XUV300 from Mahindra. Similarly, the rear design also gives a mature look & resembles the XUV 300 to some extent. Feature-wise, Mahindra has equipped the KUV 100 NXT with loads of chrome garnishing, fog lamps, LED DRLs at the front, LED taillights, rear fog lights, rear wiper, & even a rear defogger. The only thing that could have been better is the size of the 14-inch alloy wheels which look a bit tiny to the overall silhouette of the KUX 100 NXT. The carmaker is now working on bringing the electric version of this car as it is not doing much in sales. Overall, the exterior of the car feels quite old and it definitely deserves a facelift if the carmaker is planning on bringing a newer version to it.

The interior design of the KUV 100 NXT is the main attraction point of the car. The overall space management is brilliant & it can easily shame the cars of one segment above in terms of space availability. KUV has been designed to accommodate 6 people and to do that, the front armrest has been designed as a portable seat as well. The arm-rest which is big folds down as a temporary but comfortable seat. Apart from this, the floor has no hump which means the rear passengers get more legroom. In terms of features, the KUV 100 NXT offers the center-mounted gear lever, touchscreen infotainment system, semi-digital instrument cluster, and automatic climate control as well. Overall, the interior of the this car feels quite dated and misses out on several modern features that the cars below its segment also provides.

Mahindra is known for making powerful & torquey engines that last long. Supporting this fact, KUV 100 NXT also uses a similar engine which is proven to be reliable. The 1.2-Lt, mFalcon, MPFi petrol engine is a 3-cylinder unit. This engine produces a peak power of 81.8 hp & 115 Nm of peak torque. To deliver this power to the front wheels, a 5-speed slick manual transmission has been fitted by Mahindra in the KUV 100 NXT. The low-end torque of this engine is very good & the car performs well in city traffic conditions. But, the engine is noisy and with 6-people onboard, it does feel underpowered at times. The ARAI-claimed fuel economy of the KUV 100 NXT is 18.15 kmpl and there is no automatic transmission offered with the car. The engine of this car is not very engaging and is not fun to drive at all.

The ride and handling combination of Mahindra KUV 100 NXT is decent. The low-speed ride of the car is subtle and it easily eats up the undulation underneath. The bad roads are dealt with ease and there is no pitching anywhere during the ride. Also at high speed, the car mostly remains plaint. It is only the highway bumps that upset the little KUV. Handling has been tuned well by Mahindra and steering remains light at the city ride speeds. At higher speeds, the steering weighs nicely. It remains neutral but the steering isn’t very fun to drive like the other Mahindra cars. Overall, it is not the driver friendly car but does the job of commuting from point A to point B nicely.

Mahindra KUV 100 NXT is a well-equipped and safe car as well. The presence of dual-front airbags, ABS, brake assist feature, and tough build quality assures that the passengers inside the car remain safe. Although, the KUV has not been tested by any global safety rating agency, and hence there is no knowledge about how well the structure will perform in case of mishaps. Mahindra has also provided the KUV with ISOFIX seats which help increase the cabin safety further. The Global NCAP crash test rating for the same is not yet out. Overall, the KUV100 NXT is offered with all the latest safety features that the Government of India has regularised.
