Honda WR-V Latest Update
Last Update on 31st Oct'23 :The new WRV represents a significant departure from its predecessor. It's already available in certain South East Asian markets, including Thailand. The only minor drawback is that, in international markets, it exceeds the 4-meter length threshold, which disqualifies it from small car tax benefits. However, Honda could potentially make slight adjustments to meet that criteria.
Honda WR-V 2023 Price: As was the case earlier, Honda might not launch the WRV in lower trims without features. This means the starting price of the 2023 WR-V could be above Rs 8 lakh. The top model with automatic gearbox could retail at around Rs 11-12 lakh.
Design: The new WRV is a complete departure from the earlier one. The car is already on sale in some South East Asian markets like Thailand. The little issue is that internationally, it is over 4m in length which means it will not be able to enjoy small car tax benefits. But if Honda wants, they can shave off a few mm. The new WRV looks sportier than the older version. The front has a mature stance and looks somewhat similar to the Amaze. The rear does resemble the older WRV and we do like the new alloy wheel design as well.
Features: Internationally, the WRV comes with as many as six Airbags and ADAS. However, given the price concious Indian buyer, these features might not be included here. What you will get with the higher trims will be LED lights, 16 or 17 inch alloys, semi digi console, remote ac start, touch panel for climate control etc. Sadly, the new WRV does not get a sunroof.
Engine: If launched, the new WRV will come with a 1.2-litre petrol engine only. There will be no diesel or CNG at launch. This engine though smooth, is not too good on outright performance or fuel economy. Both 5-speed manual as well as a CVT automatic gearbox will be offered
Rivals: When launched, the 2023 Honda WR-V will have a lot of rivals in the country. The compact SUV segment has options like the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue etc. Likewise, there is the Nissan Magnite, Maruti Fronx and the Renault Kiger.

If Honda decides to offer a hybrid powertrain with a 1.2-litre engine, it could truly be a game changer. Honda should introduce something industry-first in India and make Indian customers feel special. There are already many strong sub-4-meter SUVs available in the market, so Honda needs to bring something unique to stand out.

The car should have a 1.5-liter engine with a CVT transmission. The front design could be inspired by the new Honda Amaze. It must include TPMS, airbags, a 360-degree camera, reverse sensors, and parking assistance for added safety and convenience.

We have been eagerly waiting for this release for quite some time. What we are particularly expecting is the inclusion of a 1.5-litre petrol engine, and it would be highly desirable if the overall length of the car remains within the sub-4-metre category, so that the associated tax and regulatory benefits can also be availed.
