Honda Seriously Considering A Sub-4M SUV For India; Details
The sub-4m SUV segment is one space that has seen a tremendous boom in the last few years, and it is not surprising that more manufacturers are intent on entering this segment. More recently, the new GST regime has reduced the tax slabs for sub-4m cars with a 1200cc petrol or a 1500cc diesel engine. This has resulted in lowered prices, and in turn even better sales.

Honda has not confirmed any details about the sub-4m SUV just yet. If reports are to be believed, cost optimisation is proving to be a big hurdle for the car maker. That said, the car maker has announced a rather aggressive plan to launch at least 10 new cars in India by 2030. Honda has previously stated that it plans to focus on bringing more SUVs to India, so you can't be wrong to assume there is a sub-4m SUV in the mix somewhere.
We can expect Honda to offer a sub-4m SUV with its powertrain and mechanicals borrowed from the Amaze, along with a similar set of features.

Honda is no stranger to the sub-4m segment at all. The Amaze is currently its only product in that segment, but it clearly has experience, as it used to sell the first-gen and second-gen Jazz, along with the WR-V. While the Jazz did find some success initially, things eventually fizzled out.
Verdict
The fact that Honda is absent from a hotly-contested segment is almost baffling. While the Japanese car maker has announced some aggressive plans, carrying them out can still take some time, and there might still be some time before we see a sub-4m SUV from the Japanese car maker.
