Mercedes-Benz E-Class AMG E 53 4Matic+
Mercedes-AMG has finally brought hybrid tech to its E-Class performance flagship, and the results are genuinely impressive. The AMG E 53 Hybrid 4MATIC+ signals a shift in how AMG products are being engineered, one where the drama of a six-cylinder soundtrack now coexists with real electrification. This isn't a watered-down "eco" AMG; it's a proper high-performance sedan that produces up to 612 PS while also managing over 100 km on electric power alone. Backed by AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, active rear-axle steering, and a thoroughly modern cabin, it makes a compelling case for buyers who refuse to choose between performance and everyday usability.

Should I buy the E-Class AMG E 53 4Matic+?
The AMG E 53 Hybrid makes a strong case for buyers who want AMG performance without compromising on daily usability. With 585-612 PS, sharp AWD handling, and a genuine 100+ km electric-only range, it's arguably the most versatile AMG model money can buy right now. It is equally suited to spirited weekend drives and silent, efficient city commutes. However, at Rs 1.45-1.48 crore, it sits in tough company against rivals like the BMW M5, and the added hybrid hardware brings some extra heft. If you value electric range alongside AMG thrills, this is a compelling, well-rounded choice.
AMG's design language translates well onto the hybrid platform. The illuminated grille with chrome vertical slats immediately signals intent, while the widened front fenders (+11 mm per side) give the car a noticeably more planted stance than the standard E-Class. The 20-inch blacked-out alloys with red brake calipers are a nice touch, functional as much as they are visual. Around back, the diffuser-equipped bumper and quad exhaust tips do the talking, while "TURBO HYBRID" badging with red "E 53" lettering makes sure nobody mistakes this for a regular E-Class. Six paint options are on offer, and the darker shades, Obsidian Black and Graphite Grey, suit the car's character best.
Step inside and it's clear Mercedes hasn't cut corners to accommodate the hybrid hardware. The AMG sports seats offer proper lateral support without sacrificing comfort, and the Nappa leather-wrapped AMG steering wheel feels appropriately special. The 14.4-inch MBUX touchscreen paired with a 12.3-inch digital cluster gives the cabin a properly modern, tech-forward feel, and the optional third display for the passenger is a thoughtful addition rather than a gimmick. The Burmester 4D system with 730 watts and Dolby Atmos is genuinely one of the better factory audio setups money can buy right now. Everyday usability hasn't been forgotten either, wireless charging, a panoramic sunroof, and a 360-degree camera are all present.
The heart of the car is a 3.0-litre inline-six turbo petrol paired with a 120 kW electric motor and a 28.6 kWh battery, producing a combined 585 bhp and 750 Nm as standard. Opt for the AMG Dynamic Plus Package, and output climbs to 612 bhp with Race Start mode unlocked, a setup that feels genuinely quick, with the 9-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT gearbox shuffling through ratios cleanly under hard acceleration. The 3.8-second 0-100 kmph claim feels believable behind the wheel. What's more impressive, though, is the electric side of things, a real-world usable 100 km range means most owners could conceivably do their daily commute without the petrol engine firing up at all.
Underpinning all this performance is a chassis that's been meaningfully reinforced over the standard E-Class - additional bracing at both axles and a wider front track give the car the rigidity needed to handle its extra power and weight. The AMG Ride Control suspension and rear-axle steering work together to keep things composed, while the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ system ensures power is put down predictably regardless of conditions. Braking hardware has been upgraded to cope with the added mass of the battery pack, and the 360-degree camera is a welcome aid given how substantial this car feels at low speeds.
