Mercedes-AMG E 53 PHEV Launched In India At Rs 1.45 Crore, Available In 2 Variants 

Mercedes-Benz has launched the AMG E 53 Hybrid 4MATIC+ in India at Rs 1.45 crore (ex-showroom). The brand has introduced the performance sedan in two editions—the Performance Edition and the Racing Edition, priced at Rs 1.45 crore and Rs 1.48 crore (ex-showroom), respectively. The AMG E 53 Hybrid is powered by a 3.0-litre engine paired with a 28.6 kWh battery pack. The performance sedan is based on the regular E-Class but gets several AMG-specific cosmetic and mechanical upgrades. It is also the first Mercedes-AMG performance model to offer a significantly longer pure-electric driving range. 

Exterior

The newly launched AMG E 53 Hybrid comes with AMG-specific exterior detailing, such as an AMG crest on the hood, an AMG-specific radiator grille with illumination and chrome vertical slats, a redesigned bumper with larger air intakes, and an overall sportier appearance. The front fenders are 11 mm wider on each side. The side profile gets 20-inch blacked-out AMG alloy wheels, red brake calipers, AMG sideskirts and subtle aerodynamic enhancements that further enhance its sporty character. At the rear, it features an AMG boot-lid spoiler, a redesigned bumper with a diffuser, and round quad exhaust tips, resulting in a more aggressive rear profile.

Interior

On the inside, it comes with several performance-focused elements, including AMG sports seats wrapped in premium upholstery, an AMG Performance steering wheel wrapped in Nappa leather, ambient lighting, multi-zone climate control, Mercedes' MBUX infotainment system with a 14.4-inch central touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and an optional third display for the front passenger. The sedan also offers features such as a wireless charger, panoramic sunroof, wireless smartphone connectivity, adaptive LED lighting, a 360-degree camera, multiple drive modes, and several other high-end comfort and convenience features.

Powertrain & Mechanicals

The all-new AMG E 53 Hybrid is powered by a 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder petrol engine paired with a 28.6 kWh battery pack and an electric motor. The combined system produces 585 bhp and 750 Nm of peak torque. Customers can also opt for the AMG Dynamic Plus Package, which increases the power output to 612 bhp and adds Race Start Mode. The engine is paired with a 9-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT automatic transmission. With this setup, the sedan is capable of sprinting from 0-100 kmph in just 3.8 seconds.

The high-voltage battery also allows the vehicle to travel up to 93-100 km in pure electric mode. Moreover, the intensity of the regenerative braking can be manually adjusted through the steering-mounted shift paddles.

Mechanically, the AMG E 53 is based on the latest-generation E-Class platform but features several AMG-specific upgrades. It comes with AMG Ride Control adaptive suspension, rear-axle steering, the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system, and an enhanced chassis for improved handling. The brakes are larger than those on the standard E-Class and have been tuned to work more effectively with the hybrid system. The front and rear axles also feature additional bracing, while the front track is 11 mm wider. Additionally, the sedan offers multiple suspension settings for different driving conditions.

With its blend of AMG performance credentials and plug-in hybrid efficiency, the E 53 Hybrid strengthens Mercedes-Benz's electrified line-up in India. Rivals in this segment include the BMW M5 and Audi RS 7, though the E 53's extended electric-only range gives it a distinct edge for daily usability.
