What We Like
The car is genuinely large and comfortable, loaded with features, the diesel is an effortless mile-muncher.

Thirsty petrol engine, diesel missing out on ADAS and an automatic gearbox option, body roll when being driven hard.

Latest Updates on Hector
The all-new MG Hector is launched in India with introductory ex-showroom prices starting at Rs 11.99 lakh. The refreshed Hector gets a sharper design with a new hexagonal mesh grille, 18-inch alloy wheels, updated cabin with a 14-inch touchscreen featuring gesture controls, and a dual-tone Urban Tan theme. It continues with both petrol and diesel engine options and adds Level 2 ADAS, six airbags, and a 360-degree camera as standard safety equipment, aiming to strengthen its position in the competitive mid-size SUV segment.
The 2026 MG Hector facelift is spied undergoing testing near the brand’s facility, confirming that MG is preparing an updated mid-size SUV for launch by early 2026. The test mule wears camouflage but shows subtle design tweaks to the front and rear bumpers and grille, hinting at a mild cosmetic refresh rather than a full redesign. The refreshed Hector is expected to retain the existing engine lineup while likely gaining more features to keep it competitive.
The MG Hector is updated to become E20 fuel-compliant to meet new emission norms, and petrol variants now start at Rs 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, offered with both manual and CVT transmissions, is now capable of running on E20 petrol as mandated for vehicles manufactured after 1 April 2025. Diesel versions remain unaffected by this update, while the SUV retains its existing features and powertrains as before.
The MG Hector and MG Astor receive a price revision effective from 2025, with SUVs from the brand becoming dearer by up to Rs 89,000 for select models and trims. In the Hector lineup the top-spec continues at existing price while diesel and petrol variants see increases ranging from roughly Rs 30,000 to Rs 45,000 across manual and CVT options. Similarly, the compact SUV MG Astor sees modest price hikes, especially in mid and higher trims, although its base price remains unchanged as of this revision. Price changes reflect broader updates across MG’s portfolio in India.
The MG Hector Plus 7-seater expands its lineup with the addition of two new variants aimed at offering more choice for families and long-distance users. These new trims include enhanced feature sets, such as upgraded infotainment and safety tech, while maintaining the model’s core appeal of spacious seating and flexible cabin configuration. Prices for the newly introduced Hector Plus variants are positioned to strengthen its competitiveness against rival 7-seater SUVs in the mid-size segment.
